A Fine Little Nextel

Sep 9, 2004 by erikclarke

Firstly, I'll deal with the battery issue. Get an extended battery from eBay. Done. Next, I'll talk about the phone. It works GREAT! It is at least as loud as any other phone I've used. The wav ringers are clear and convincing. The midi ringers are purer (lacking the 'dirt' and distortion that the i95 plays along with its ring tones). The screen is visible outdoors. It weight is insignificant enough to allow it to be carried at all times without the bulk of previous models. The signal strength is great in New York City where it performs equally along side i730, i58sr, i305 and i530 models. It is obvious that Nextel shaved a bit off the price of this model by incorporating the least expensive battery available. I applaud their efforts to keep the cost down, but immediately bought an extended battery that surprisingly didn't significantly increase the overall size of the phone. In fact it fits in the same snug case I purchased for the slim battery back (no elastic needed)! I like this phone for its functionality, size, style and speaker quality/volume.

small phone battery life sucks

I brought the i830 phone I love the size but that's the only good thing about it. battery don't last long at all I had the phone for about a month and went back to my i730 which is a much better phone all around. nextel has bad service no matter what phone you buy lots of drop calls. the i830 is not worth the price I payed for it.

Small Phone with Little Life

Jul 24, 2004 by jasoninsandiego

I had this phone for about two weeks before I returned it to the dealer. It was nice and small; this was the only plus for the phone. First, the battery life was too short for a serious user. The phone required to be charged every night and sometimes it would not last all day if I was using it heavy. Second, the reception was horrible. My old i90 had much, much battery reception then this phone. I i90 had service with full bars in area where this phone would drop out. Third, the phone lacks many features that phones of the same price range offer: MMS is pretty much useless, no camera, very bad text-messaging capabilities, and no real performance benefit over other Nextel phones. Lastly, the phone is very expensive. I would recommend this phone to anyone who was a lite user, used it in a very good call area, and required a small Nextel phone. For now, I am going to stick to my reliable i90.

I dont like it at all

Ok first think is the price. cost way to much for what littel you get. Second thing is the batter life is really short, I can charge it for days and make one 10 min call and the battery meter is already went down a bar, I had the silver one and although you can buy the higher capacity battery you can only get the higher capacity battery door in bronze, nextel said that they dont think that motorola is going to make the door in silver. If you need to talk much better buy the bronze and the higher capacity battery.

Pros
good solid phone and thats all I can say good about it

Cons
every thing eles you can think of.
