AWESOME PHONE

Jul 31, 2004 by explosive215

I just picked this baby up from Radio shack the other day and let me tell you....It is sweet. Tons of features, the voice reconition is great, no training it. I am currently waiting for a HS820 bluetooth headset i have ordered.

Pros: Really good camera.(in the right lighting)and if you want to see what the pic really looks like send it to your computer

Loud and clear speakerphone

Superb reception!! best I have
ever had.

Beutiful screen and nice menus

Very good size...not too small but
not too big. perfect. I have big
Hands too.

Voice dialing like I said.

Bluetooth(havent used yet, but still
a pro)

lastly I think the phone looks great
inside and out.

Cons: I dont like the keypad backlighting,
I wish it was blue.

Keypad feels a little iffy, but
Im just paranoid.

I dont like how you have to turn the
camera lcd light/flash on for every
picture if you want to use it.

the phone gets greased up really
easy and it makes it look grimey.

I guess thats all the cons I can
think of. No major problems. Just
few small gripes.

Conclusion: Excellent phone. I feel a 4.5 is a really accurate to rate this phone. Also I have heard rumors about a bad battery life and so far, I have had no problems. After all its a very high res screen and has a
1.2 MP camera. I got luck and got one of the 2 phones that a Radioshack by me had in stock. If you are trying to decide if you should wait till they release this phone I would strongly suggest you wait. It is well worth it.

V710

Pros:
-excellent reception, this phone seems to pull in service where previously I was unable to reliably connect.
-Crystal clear handset, many of the people I have spoken to using the phone have said how clear it sounds.
-Loud, Clear Speaker phone, the speaker phone on this phone rivals or exceeds that of the one built into my $190 uniden cordless house phone.
-Bluetooth.
-Looks, simply the best looking VZW phone out there.
-Ringtone Volume, nice and loud, as well as crisp and clear.
-Keypad, Well placed, crisp buttons.
-ObeyMoto Voice commands, Simply one of the coolest features of this phone. No training necessary at all and is accurate 99.5% of the time. You can call up most commands (Camera, Name dial, Number Dial.....)

Cons:
-Camera, the camera takes great pictures in daylight outdoors, but the indoor pics pretty much suck. but then again it is a phone not a camera.

All in all I have to say with its features it is the best phone VZW has out to date.

The Best Moto To date!

OK, I have mine with a 128 TF card (with the SD adapter).

I have synced through the BT with my Axim X30, Mot BT Headset & my IBM laptop. I cannot transfer files via BT but that is no big deal for me.

I have transferred what few files, and MP3 ring tones I want via the T-flash.

I am not interested in using this for a MP3 player as I travel freq and cell phones have to be off (even if it has "airplane mode" by FAA regulations) so I use my X30 (with more music capacity) as my MP3 player (OK actually its wma format but who cares).

This phone is awesome. It has better RF characteristics than my T730, much better. I had none or one at the house with the T730 and with the 710 I have a solid two bars and no dropped calls (that I had all the time with my T730). The keypad is large enough that I can use it without my reading glasses. The BT headset works excellent and the voice dial/prompt is also excellent both from the handset and the BT headset. I really like being able to walk from the desk into the kitchen to get another cup of joe and am able to keep on talking and I even did a conference call from the BT headset.

The camera works fine (for a phone camera) and takes clear pictures. The outside display is adequate for what it was designed for. Sure it's grainy but it is a low def display and it shows me what I want on the outside.

The inside pictures are just fine and I really feel that all of the people that posted negative comments earlier are either technically deficient or just those that would trash a free bar of pure gold!

I think that this is the best phone that Motorola has made to date!

V710 -- Bluetooth and more !

Aug 8, 2004 by Dr.Jack

Got my Acura TL in January and have been waiting forever for Verizon to support a bluetooth phone. It seems like I've been waiting almost as long for the V710 to be released and picked mine up from a local RS on Wednesday. So far, I LOVE IT !! I keep reading what others say, and I've always thought I was too demanding ...

P R O S :
1. The Bluetooth connected with the TL in a couple of easy steps. (I hope new software will allow the signal strength and battery meter to display on the dash ...)
2. I purchased the 128M transflash card (about $40) and, using it with the included adapter, popped into my wife's dIMAGE XT for an easy way to connect to my PC. Downloaded a bunch of pix, put the tiny memory chip back into the V710, and had faces to go with my names. (When you get a call, the FACE and the number show on the outside screen - now, that way cool !
3. It's Bluetooth and Verizon supports it!
4. I'm not disappointed in the camera BECAUSE IT'S A PHONE!! (Imagine you bought a car and it could also fly -- not real fast, but IT COULD FLY.. Give me a break ...)
5. The displays are large and very bright and clear.
6. Great sound and seems to be able to get good signals from everywhere.
7. Did I mention it's Bluetooth and Verizon supports it ????

C O N S :
1. The manual isn't very helpful about MP3s and specs about the photos.
2. Verizon still doesn't have any info and it's missing from all their menus.
3. It doesn't fly (oh, that's right, it's a PHONE !!).

I'm anxious to see if I managed to be one of the first 710 to register for the FREE accessory giveaway. Even if I missed it, I'm impressed with the audio, video, calendar, and other bells and whistles ...
The V710 is a Winner!!

not bad

Pros:
great signal, i get 4 bars in places most other phones dont get any.
Durable. I've dropped this phone all over the place (not intentionally) and it has a few scratches.
nice display, easy to use.

Cons:
Horrible battery life. i have to charge it every night, sometimes a couple of times a day. its horrible. I'm happy to get 12 hours out of it.
No T9 texting.
Sometimes the calls or messages don't go through.
Sometimes the phone doesn't like to download pix messages.
It has a mind of its own. If its been outside in the cold for a little while (a couple of hours) it doesn't like to listen to you. Ive shut my phone off a couple of times and it randomly turns itself back on. weird but it actually happens.
Very weak at vibrating. i can hardly feel it sometimes.

Overall this phone has been good to me. i think there might be a few better options than this one but its not a bad phone.

I Think It Is Great

Jan 9, 2005 by snowman33

I have owned the V710 for about a month now and think it is great. I use the bluetooth functionality with the Motorola 810 headset and the 800 car speakerphone. Someone a while back said that you could only use one bluetooth accessory at a time, but that is not true. I have had no problems at all. The earpiece volume is quite loud. In fact I turned it down a bit. The phone is a little larger that some, but that is what I like about it since you can see the pictures that you have transferred to it a little clearer. The screen is great. I also use mp3 files as ringers. I love it. Maybe it's so much better because I am with US Cellular here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Not sure. I know that a lot of people have had problems with Verizon. Hope this helps.

V710 Better Than Expected

Dec 20, 2004 by stemcell

I fully expected after reading some of the reviews & forum discussions to give the V710 a try & return it because of the reported "issues". I'd have to say that I have not returned it & am more than pleased with this phone.

PROS:
Excellent reception (VZW) even in areas where my old phone could not get a decent signal (hotel rooms in Chicago, Las Vegas, Austin, L.A, N.Y & associated airports)

Excellent internal display

Voice recognition outstanding

Excellent speaker phone quality & volume

Ability to create MP3 ringtones using the TF card (I don't reach for my phone anymore when someone else's rings)

Decent battery life (although I religiously charge the phone nightly)

Bluetooth for the HS810 headset works great

Good build quality (fit & finish)

CONS:
Camera image quality bad, but not as bad as I expected (fine for picture ID, not for capturing those precious vacation memories)

Earpiece & ringer volume could be louder (may just be my hearing)

Can't get rid of background on external display, only change it with color schemes

Keypad lighting could be brighter & clearer

Can't transfer files or sync using bluetooth

Owners manual useless

SUMMARY:
Unless you're trying to utilize everything that bluetooth is capable of, I'd recommend this phone to Verizon users. Keep in mind that everyone's expectations and cellular needs are different. The V710 is better than average at satisfying mine.

I like it.

Dec 19, 2004 by dsnelson

I ordered this phone, THEN read up on it. I was prepared to hate it! Well, I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I like it. My carrier is Verizon, I'm in the L.A. area. Verizon has been catching a lot of flack for disabling parts of the Bluetooth functionality, but hey... I don't really need that stuff anyway. The phone can connect to my pc via bluetooth for use as a modem, and I can get/put pics and ringtones to/from the phone through the transflash card.

PROS:
-It can do pretty much anything but wash dishes.
-It is loud.
-The ringer is loud too.
-Clear connections.
-I have no problem with dropped calls.
-Plays MP3 files.
-Use MP3 or MIDI files for ringtones.
-It has memory expansion via transflash card.
-It looks good.

CONS:
-This thing eats batteries for lunch!
-The menu structure is awkward. I guess when you have so much functionality, you have to trade off some ease-of-use.
-The camera is...uh...pretty weak for 1.2 Mp
-Don't expect to use it for a modem and stay online for long, unless you use Bluetooth: you can't plug in the USB cable and the power cable at the same time.
-I have to put my greasy old cheek on that fine jewel-like display in order to talk.

SUMMARY:
I like it.

Sounds Great, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dec 2, 2004 by breaksraver13

I got this phone because of all the hype that was circulating about it. Well I'm here to tell you it's not all that. I have had 4 of these !!!!!!!!!!! The first three had problems receiving calls. Sometimes it would ring sometimes not. Sometimes it would say that I had a missed call but it never made a sound!!!!! I didn't really have any call problems with the 4th but it won't take the TF card just locks up when I try to save pics to it or open pics off of it. 1 mega-pixel what a joke!!! The camera sucks!!! My 6000 took better pics. Outside the pics are ok but inside forget it. This phone is very "buggy" it locks up in the menus. Thanks Motorola for another crappy phone!!!!! Verdict: Im taking my 4th replacement to Verizon and telling them I want a different phone!

Pros: -Large Bright Screen
-Good Speakerphone
-Great Reception
-Picture Caller I.D.
-Ringtones Very Loud and Clear

Cons: -The External Screen (no customization)
and the (resolution/not many colors)
makes the picure caller I.D. not good
-Flash is useless!
-Ear piece volume not good
-TF card never worked
-Too many bugs in software
-Incomming call problems
-Basically if it is not in the pros it
should be here
