Wish i could give it a good review

Ive had this phone for 2 hours now, and im already so annoyed with it that I will be taking it back tomorrow morning. I wanted the reviews of this phone to be wrong, and I really wanted to like this phone, even though disliked much about the v60i&s that Ive had in the past, there were things that made me happy about them. This phone angers me all around, hopefully the LG vx7000 is a bit better phone than this.

Pluses:
Transflash card
Loud Ringers
vibrant big screen
mp3 ring tones

Cons:
I can barely hear the caller on the other end when its turned up full blast.
The flash is a joke.
Shoddy Construction, feels like its going to fall apart in my hands when I open it.

Good when works

It took awhile to get a phone that worked out of this model (V710). The first phone had a crackling with any sound. You could hear it when the phone was opened. It wasn't that loud, then the mic went out. I went back to VZW fusterated just because I needed a phone, and I decided to get another one because it proved to be reliable when it worked, and still had a ton of good features.

The second phone worked good but the outside screen and camera stopped working. What's the point of owning a camera phone when you can't take a picture? I took it in and again to get it replaced and saw an owner of an E815 (the upgrade with a ton of better features including VCast and the issues with the V710 were supposedly fixed) (WHICH THEY WERE!) and I went and got this phone replaced the third time. This phone worked as well a fully functioning fun V710. I loved this phone until it tumbled and broke in half. It was time for an E815 which is reviewed in its forum.

PROS:
Camera
BIG SCREEN
Good speakers

CONS:
the screen breaks on the front
camera goes out
speaker crackles
VCAST disabled.

Decent Phone

It's an alright phone. The camera isn't that great, but it does take 3 minute videos if you have a micro sd card in it. I like the security options: you can lock certain things. You can lock for example settings, your txt messages, or even connection access. It's a good phone if you plan on just having a "phone". Just something for calling and texting. It has internet on it but its the watered down phone version. If you really want email and music and watnot buy a smartphone. Overall, it's just a simple, reliable phone.

Junk

Pros: Gets good signal, loud.
Cons: Cheap flimsy antenna, Small buttons, battery life, that would indicate there is some which there is not. In the fist week (30 minutes of actual use) I had to charge it 3 times because it was totally dead.
People complain about the camera, yes it's real bad, very dark. However if you want to take great pictures, go and buy a actual camera. People complain about no music. Go buy a MP3. It's a phone, In my experience a real bad phone but a phone. This is the second Motorola cell phone I have bought. The first was a V180 (Junk) threw it away after 1 year. The second was the V710 which lasted almost a month. I haven't even gotten my first bill with the new service and the V710 is outside in the garbage can. Nokia on order.
This is just my experience with this phone. My brother has one and likes it. He never turns it on which is probably why he likes it but he likes it. I personally will never buy another Motorola product, I have had much better luck with Nokia.
I gave it a .5 rating instead of -0- because the signal was good and I could drive down the road and hear who I was talking to.

Ok Maybe

Qwest Wireless dumbed down the phone. MP3's would not play on it, they just click. AAU files are not recognized (even though Motorola sez they are) so don't bother if you are looking for that feature. Qwest wireless appears to be the only wireless company still selling it. I haven't owned it long enough to say how well it will hold up. But by the time I do it will no longer be around.

Great reception...some shortcomings

Dec 26, 2005 by aimpulsive

The reception on this phone is great. I have never dropped a call in the eight months that I have owned it, and the speakerphone is worthy of the best office phones.

The keypad feels great. The BT works great. It is nice to have a memory expansion slot (even though I have never used it).

I do love my phone!

However, a few problems with it:

1. After owning it for only 3 weeks, I and three coworkers attended a conference where it rained all week. We all stayed in the same hotel, and drove in the same car. They had LG and Nokia phones, and I my new V710. By the 2nd day my V710 would not make or accept calls. When I returned it to Alltel they said it had water damage. And, it was kept in a leather case! You would think that Motorola would seal a phone better from a little rain. After all, LG and Nokia did!

2. The screens are very hard to read b/c of the wallpaper / background graphics. I can't find any normal way to just have a blue (or white or black or ...) background. It makes the words hard to read.

3. The buttons on the side are great, but they sometimes get pressed when putting the phone in my pocket or into its belt "holster".

4. The camera is ok, at best. For a 1.2 meg camera, it doesn't have the quality of most VGA cameras. And even though I did not buy it for the camera, I have found a few times where I needed one.

5. Up / downloading MP3 and pictures requires an expensive cable / software for your PC.

Great phone...just be aware of the quirks.

My recommendation:Get the E 815 instead

Dec 6, 2005 by Razr Freak

Pros:

-Incredible reception
-Bluetooth
-Tri band phone,covers digital,analog,and PCS
-Cool wallpapers
-Bright,colorful screens
-Data cable
-Memory card slot

Cons:

-Very flimsy,flip wears out fast!
-Bad battery life
-Freezes up then shuts offe
-Cheesey ringtones
-Buggy software
-Takes forever to dial,it just sits there
-Awful grainy camera, supposedly 1.2 mp takes horrible pictures
-Drops calls
-Acts strangely,does weird things
-Useless flash
-Switches to analog in a well covered digital area
-Can't customize screens, and use wallpaper for external display

I previously owned this phone before purchasing the Razr V3c,let me recommend if your on Verizon like my roomate, get the E 815 instead,it's the upgraded version with the awesome 1.3 megapixel camera and better battery life.

Great Phone If You Baby It.

Nov 29, 2005 by GHanny3DUI

This phone is great if you baby it. I was pumped to get this phone when I saw that it had expandable memory. Since getting it, it has only been ok.

PROS:
1) MP3 player is amazing. I loaded up the Flash disk and used it for my summer job.
2) Reception is excellent, if you do the updating regularly.
3) Can be very loud or quiet, whichever you desire.

CONS:
1) Battery life is short if you constantly use it.
2) I dropped it this summer and now, for no reason at all, the outside screen goes solid blue. It takes numerous tries at turning it off and on to get the outside screen to work again.
3) The antenna is easily breakable. I had it in the little clip and it got caught on my seatbelt and snapped off. It is too big to avoid.

The v710 is a piece of junk

Aug 23, 2005 by CaptionBoy

I got this phone because I wanted video capability, as well as mega-pixel quality. I live in Toledo, where I use Alltel phone service. I upgraded off of a Nokia to the Motorola, to get the better features.

I have no idea what version of software I use (nor do I care to), but I am so moved to comment about the crappy workability of this phone, that I decided to register to tell the world about it.

The v710 is BUGGY. it Locks up all the time; you can't power it down, you can't do anything to break it out of it's lock. I've actually had to trade it in twice in 3 weeks, cause the first two sucked, and now it looks as though number 3 is going to suck, too. the pictures it takes are fair, at best.

Having said that, if the damn thing worked, it would be a great phone. It just seems so gosh darned buggy, that it's hardly worth my time. I just get a little annoyed when I have to take two half days out of my work schedule to fix this problem.
