Don't Do IT

Apr 6, 2005 by seabeegirl

When my husband and i migrated from AT&T to Cingular this is the phone recommended! I exchanged them both today - we both had coverage issues, dropped calls, bad reception, etc.
All this with several "updates" received from Cingular.

Cons
one number per person
no custom ring-tones for groups (if you can get groups)
never did get voice dial to work
couldn't figure out how to assign quick-dial numbers - the phone did it for you

Pros

I didn't find any

experience, research equal thumbs up

I received the V180 last week and I am happy with what I see so far. The phone looks great and has plenty of basic functions to keep simpletons like me happy. I think it's a neat and friendly phone that will serve its purpose well.

PROS:
MP3 Ringtones
no buttons to go off in your pocket
automatic clock update
easily accessible ring/vibrate adjustment
adequate color screen
easy to use menus
can assign buttons for personal use

CONS:
not easy enough to open
faceplate easily scratched
slippery, easily dropped
when opened, seems easy to hyperextend and
break

Motorola could do better

Mar 18, 2005 by wess

Had this phone for 5 months and am very disappointed in the quality. I have a replacement on the way since I finally got fed up with a black screen. I could still make calls but couldn't see who was calling me. The phone is hard to open (not intended for a man), slippery (It's easy to fumble and drop), scratches very easy. Never been disappointed with a phone from Motorola before now. Guess you get what you pay for. This one was free.

Horrible cheap phone

Jan 21, 2005 by mattdez

All I wanted was a phone that made calls. I didn't need internet or a camera, I only wanted to call people. The first 3 weeks I had the phone it was great. Great reception, easy to use, etc.

Then the problems started... first the phone started locking up all the time. I didn't notice it at first because everything looked normal, but the time would be stuck hours back and none of the buttons worked.

I am always getting "network bussy" when I try to make calls, yet my roomate's Cingular phone works fine.

Lastly, the exterior screen cracked when I had the phone in my pocket. Maybe I squeezed it too hard picking it up, but this shouldn't happen.

This phone is really cheap. It feels like it'll break if you hold it wrong and is way too buggy.

I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PHONE!

Best Phone I have owned

Feb 7, 2005 by jessickamarye2005

This is the third phone I have had. I have had the Ericsson T68i and the Nokia 3595. This one has the best sound quality in ring tones, and its LOUD.

Pros:
Loud
MP3 ringtones
Easily changeable face plates
Sleek and professional looking
Lots of features
Speaker phone is awesome
GREAT reception (with tmobile)

Cons:
Default face plate is easily scratched
Freezes when it gets too hot

I recommend this phone to any one who is looking for an easy phone to use. I use tmobile and it has never dropped a call and i live in the sticks.

Excellent Phone

Jan 24, 2005 by wileygarrett

I have used five different phones in the last five years. This is by far the best phone I have used. The reception is one of the strong points. We travel a lot through the US and with Cingular this little phone has given us very few dropped calls. Battery longevity is excellent with recharging being required once per week, or every 4 days if used a lot.
We have used 2 of these phones for several months with no problems.

Great Phone

Jan 21, 2005 by gsep

I just recently started a contract with T-Mobile, and I have to say the the V180 has been outstanding for features and signal strength. I haven't experienced many dropped calls and for not being a camera phone, the other features more than make up for the lack of camera.

Pros:
-Great speakerphone
-Great signal
-MP3 Ringtones
-Easy to use

Cons:
-No camera
-Easily scratched or smudged face
-Default predictive text on text messaging is just annoying.

Overall, I love this phone!

Good entry-level Phone

Jan 20, 2005 by waffletrip

Pros

-Flip phone
-Speaker phone
-Reception, no complains yet
-external caller ID
-Good look and feel
-MP3 playback
-Standard 5 pin USB data connection
-battery life

Cons

-Not the best screen, small and low resolution

It is a solid entry-level phone which does everything it says it can do. If you are looking for a basic phone with some good features this is the one.

This GSM phone is an entry-level "And Better"

Oct 9, 2004 by Brice

To say This GSM phone is an entry-level would be an understatement, my very first the Nokia 3595 was just that,

Motorola put in a much better calender with two views, weekly (the old) and you can view by the month now!

This phone doesn't have a camera but what is one to do with one unless you can upload pics to your PC via USB direct, all people are doing is making money for the company mailing them!

It does have a nice speaker phone and all the features a ?home user" could want I believe,
I like the ability to set the Network to automatic or
manual if I want to lock into a particular one.

Pro's: I won't repeat the ones already listed.

Con's: There are some

- Can't delete music and picture files included

- The screen is a bit small for the those with
cataracts or bad eyes in general .

I would prefer the term, Great for the "home User" instead of entry level, it is a wonderful phone!
