The Ultimate "Camera" phone

May 25, 2004 by JT Money

I guess this IS the camera phone if u want a good camera with it, but i ask u, if u want a good camera, why don't u just buy a good camera camera. At the end of the day, this is a phone and not a camera as camera is purely an "feature" of the phone.
The overall features of the phone is great, it's great on the bus when ur bored and it has everything u need in a phone. It's a slight big for size.
The battery life for the phone is somewhat weak, can't really get to 3 days unless all u do is leave it on standby. If u're using the camera and everything, the battery life is short compared to other phones.
The ringtone volume is generally weak too
What i like about it is the SD card option on the phone, i currently have a 64 mb and i guess that's all u'll need for the phone unless u wanna use it as an mp3 player which is another GOOD option (but once again drain battery)

Great Hardware Lost

I am disappointed. The Bluetooth feature is a lie. It can not be used as a modem and can not interface with a PC only via IR in a very limited way.

The software is primitive and restrictive.

No access to the SD card via IR (forget Bluetooth).

It is a schizophrenic device with a split personality. It is a Flashlight-MP3-Phone-Camera-Alarm Clock combo with minimal integration.

No USB cable supplied (the only lifeline) - like selling a car without keys, making keys an option, which can be ordered later.

The Camera and the display are excellent.

The processor can not keep up with the large image files, and the user can grow a beard waiting for the thumbnails to appear.

The 8MB SD card must be a Joke. It is like saying "Memory not included" in a polite way. A 16 MB one costs $9.99. Could we expect a bit more for the list price of EUR 599.00 ($ 720) - maybe 5 songs?

The menu system is complicated. It is hard to find particular functions.

A standard for all phones becomes necessary, to avoid having to take a semester of night classes about how to use each new phone.

The battery life I experienced was less than 20% of the advertised value without making calls, just playing with it.

Conclusion:

A faster processor, a heavier memory card and battery and most importantly a better integration would make this phone a winner, since it already has all the features built into it.

In its current configuration it is only an expensive, uncompleted toy for gadget freaks to show off.

I am reluctantly putting back my chip into my old T610, which may be a lot less glamorous, but a lot more useful. Especially when I have to rely on the battery in a country where I may not have the right power plug, or where I need to go on-line with my laptop.

It is sad to see such a great package of the latest innovative hardware being butchered by bad software and lack of common sense.

I will try to return it.

Great phone with top photos

2 colour screens is a great touch and resolution on inside screen is particularly good – partic when taking pix with the 1.3 megapixel camera. Nice to get photos that finally don’t look like they were taken with a phone! Removable SD memory card is v useful for extra memory space. Only flaw is that it’s quite chunky – but then what do you expect for a phone packed with this many features!
If puchasing in the UK, I would recommend www.foneshop.com as they had the best price for this product on Vodafone and delivered it to my home the very next day.

The first thing i did when i turned it on was to try the camera. I saw what i expected, good pictures in high quality. That the software in this phone should be a problem i don't understand. cause i think it looks nice. Then i downloaded a game called worms, very fun actually. And to the camera, it is a 1.0 mega-pixel ccd camera. it takes pictures up to 858*1144 pixels. And on the highest size you can't zoom. And a big minus is that it takes long time to save the pics. But when you open them later you can change them in different lays out. I really like this "Vodafone damed phone" after all. It got its charm.

A Good Solid Camera Phone

The first day I bought this phone, I was captured by its very good screen and the 1 mega-pixel camera. It displays and prints pictures like a normal 2 mega-pixel camera. Also, the MP3 function is like an added bonus to this phone. But you can't complain against its 6meg card because YOU HAVE TO BUY IT YOURSELF!!! However, the battery life is short compared to other similar phones like the Nokia 7610. But if you are looking for a phone with a good camera and screen, then this is the phone for you.
