The best mobile device up to date!

Dec 6, 2013 by michael2014nyc

I currently have nokia 521 windows phone (which I am very happy with except slow internet browsing). I now went to AT&T store in New York and fully tested Nokia 1520 which was connected to LTE Network.

~Fast loading and switching between internet pages and sub menus within pages (even when one menu/page just starts loading you can click on a different menu/page and it will load quickly!)

~ Very bright and hight resolution lcd of 1080p!

~Top quality touch recognition when typing text or messages (on all nokia windows phones)

~Default keyboard layout is absolutely the best and proportional to a screen size (on all Nokia windows phones) which makes texting super fast!

NOTE:
I have nothing against android phones but there are two main issues on all android devices that I've tested:
1) Annoying lag during scrolling through any of the phone's menu or internet page! (Test for yourself, and then test Nokia windows phones and you will see the difference).
2) Default keyboards are very inconvenient

3) at least cheap android phones have bad touch recognition. You feel it when you texting. But again you will only see the difference ones you test Nokia Windows phones!

The Lumia 1520 is a Jewel

May 2, 2014 by BroJim   updated Feb 24, 2015

Nokia hardware has ALWAYS been at the top of the quality stack. There was a time in phone history that there were only TWO manufacturers that dominated the cell phone scene--Nokia and Motorola. The Apple iPhone came on the scene and everybody started with the smartphone. Apple is on the down-hill swing and does not appear to be interested in innovating anymore. Along comes Nokia and Microsoft...

My Lumia shipped with Windows Phone 8.0. I am now running Windows Phone 8.1. There has not been a single hiccup. No stutters. No burps. NOTHING. This thing runs as smooth as a Rolls Royce!

Pros:
- Great Hardware - Rugged
- Big Screen
- Buttons are in the Right Place
- Audio is SUPERB

Cons:
- Should have shipped with inductive charging
- Needs a slightly bigger battery
- Cannot text with one hand unless you are The Big Show!

Microsoft now wholly owns Nokia. Microsoft has picked up the "innovation" baton from Apple. Let's see what happens next. If the 1520 is any indication, there is going to be an EXPLOSION of Windows Phones on the scene this summer!

FOLLOWUP (Feb 24, 2015):

Con:
- The phone is simply TOO BIG for me. I have used it Since April 2014 and I am downsizing to a Nokia 635 until my contract ends. Phones with screens larger an 4.5 inches are just not useful to MOST users.

To date...

The best WP device available. If you get your hands on the 32gb, you can expand it with an additional 64gb microSD card. Why is this important? Outside of being able to store media files, the WP8.1 update is going to allow for app install on the microSD. Additionally, the battery life on this thing is extraordinary. You can easily get a full 24 hours of use out this phone, with moderate use, such as occasional gaming, web search, talking & texting, checking email, and a couple of 30 minute episodes. This has just been my experience,, so far, and I still get a full day out of it.

The fact that it's quad core, full HD, 2gb of memory will only help, when the OS is updated.

An unexpected feature, after a complete battery drain, you can get back to using the phone within a couple of minutes of plugging it into the charger. This was not previously possible with other WPs that I have used, and some Android phones, at least, the Galaxy S 3.

I never thought I would like a large 6in screen, but after setting up my old 920 for my daughter, I realize just how much I needed a larger screen. Just right for my size hands.

The best smartphone I've had!

Dec 11, 2013 by linda_nyu

I've used several android devices before and never had such a smooth experience as with this phone.
The only minus I have for this phone is a bad phone menu interface (which I noticed on all windows phones).

PROS:
* Very bright and very sharp display!
* The fastest operating and web browsing speed
* Call quality is superb
* Very smooth web browsing (no lags)
* Keyboard interface is the best ( very fast typing)

CONS:
*Bad design of menu graphics (including themes)
*Not enough shortcuts to basic functions throughout the phone's menu
*No option to select multiple contacts for transferring or deleting them

Overall: Phone menu is horrible (Microsoft: you must change it!) I still give this phone 5 stars because of the speeds, lag free scrolling and browsing and a pleasant keyboard.
