Solid phone overall

Aug 7, 2013 by middlehead   updated Aug 7, 2013

The screen is one of the high points for the phone, as you can expect from LG. Good color reproduction and plenty bright, I run mine around 35% brightness at all times.

Interface is plenty fast, I don't recall ever experiencing system lag. LG's skin doesn't have very much bloat, most people's problem with it is their cartoony icons. Just use another launcher (I'm partial to ADW EX) and choose your own icons.

Regular handset volume is fine, but the speakerphone feels a little weak. Not that I've actually had a problem hearing people, but it seems weaker than other phones I've used.

Reception is the one true knock I'd put against this phone; I haven't done any empirical testing, but it feels like I get worse signal than my previous phones (an LG Revolution immediately preceding, then a string of olde tyme feature phones before that).

The other potential point against the phone isn't truly against the phone, but is a complaint that LG's developed an unfortunate reputation for: software updates. The phone shipped with 4.0.4 and did get updated to 4.1.2, but there's been no obvious traces of getting 4.2.

Overall, if I went back to the point when I bought this and made the decision again, I'd still buy it. It has the same processing power as the GS3, with a denser/smaller-pixeled screen, a slightly larger battery, and cost a hell of a lot less.

Not so hot a phone....coming from Droid Razr this one was downgrade

Pros.....the sleeve case was awesome... keyboard nice...sound quality great

Cons... battery life worse than the super thin Razr....lag was horrible...hit an app and wait 5 seconds for anything to happen.....just wasnt happy...returned and went back to Razr
