Worth Every Penny...

Jan 17, 2009 by m.nacor

This phone is one of the better phone choices I have made. Recently a big Apple iPhone user, I decided that it was time for a change. Switched my SIM card to the Nokia N96 and never looked back.

PROS: 16gb of memory.
5MP camera
Great video recording
OS very user friendly(even for someone who never owned a Nokia model)
Also it just looks cool dual - slide and all.

CONS: Im tall so I have big hands sometimes my fingers press wrong buttons SMALL keyboard
N96 sometimes restarts itself.
Battery could be better.

But other than those little down falls I love this phone. I dont remember the last time I touched my iPhone. I highly recommend this great machine... Cant wait for the latest addition to the nSeries collection N97....

Nokia N96 A Flagship

Nov 13, 2008 by spidernet21

I have still have (after 1-year) and Nokia N95 8GB but it was time to upgrade. I have had a Nokia N96 for a week now. I'll give the pros and cons first and THEN a quick summary. So without further ado:

Pros:
*Same great camera as the N95 with 5-MP
*Whopping memory!! Mine has 32GB right now; 16GB built in and then a memory card slot can be used
*Video codec is superior to ANY phone I've used that results in great battery life with video playback (and music as well)
*Clear screen with vibriant colors
*A healthy size keypad even though flat
*FAST data transfer with micro-usb
*Symbian OS 3.2 is one of the best smartphones platforms to use

Cons:
*Smaller battery although it does perform well
*Related to the above because of the weaker processor in this device
*Can be quick SOMETIMES but lags under heavy usage
*Out of 128MB of ram, only roughly 45MB are free! Where did all the ram go?? (probably to helping the device seem faster although it has a slower processor)
*Some bugs with the newest version makes it a little unstable sometimes although it is still worth the purchase.
*Finger print magnet!!! (though I still love the shiny materials)

Bugs Included: (software 11.101)
*Phone will randomly boot sometimes after heavy video usage
*While watching a video and you receive an alert tone, you'll lose more than 50% of your volume for no reason?! So you'll have to turn it up yet again and it still won't be the same.
*Wi-fi to cellular handoff could be smoother
*Goes totally to sleep during a call?!
*Media key light up although there's no media to control

Overall, this device is worth it AFTER you consider the Nokia N85. If you MUST have large amounts of memory, the Nokia N96 is well worth it and do know Nokia will get it near perfect after a few more software updates. Otherwise, I rest my Nokia N95 8GB and enjoy ridiculous memory with video and music. Good luck on your choice!
