Good phone

Oct 8, 2007 by dynod84

I just picked up the 8350 over the weekend. So far it's proving to be a good phone. I charged the battery fully Friday night when I got home and it's still two bars left on Monday afternoon with average use. Verizon says they've gone to "cheap plastic feel" b/c so many people complained about the weight and bulkiness of the 8300. The camera isn't quite as good as I thought it would be, hence the one point ding. I wish it had digital zoom rather than just in the 640 resolution or lower. I haven't played with the MP3 player or memory disk yet and don't know that I will (I don't use my phone for music much). Overall the calls have been good (the ear piece sometimes sounds like it's echoing my voice when I talk but other times it doesn't), great reception, easy menus and volume adjustment, good battery.

OVERALL GREAT PHONE - FLAGSHIP OF LG JUST GOT BETTER (DESPITE A FEW QUIRKS IT STILL ROCKS)

PROS -
- NO ANTENNA LIKE THE 8300
- YOU CAN SEND AS LONG AS 30 SECOND VIDEOS
- EXTENDED BATTERY LASTS FOREVER
- YOU CAN MANIPULATE THE ASPECT RATIO, CROP, AND RESIZE YOUR PHOTOS
- YOU CAN RECORD VIDEOS IN MANY COLOR SETTINGS
- THIS PHONE CAN NOW ACCOMMODATE A 4 GB MICRO SD
- FINALLY HAS A LEASH LOOP
- MOBILE WEB IS FAST... VERY FAST... WOW!!!
- EXTERNAL SPEAKERS ARE VERY LOUD WHEN NEEDED

CONS -
- TREMENDOUS FEEDBACK ON SPEAKER PHONE MODE, EVEN WITH THE VOLUME AT MINIMUM (MY THIRD ONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IN TWO WEEKS)
- FACE SCRATCHES LIKE A NEW PAINT JOB IN A SANDSTORM (ALSO BUMPERS ARE NOT TALL ENOUGH SO THE KEYS ALSO SCRATCH THE FACE IF PHONE IS SLAPPED SHUT)
- REGULAR BATTERY LIFE IS POOR
- A BIT CUMBERSOME TO OPEN
- LOOKS CHEAP

8350

Pros:
Great Sound quality
Camera isn't bad for 1.3mp
Nice screen with an alternate to the normal Verizon menu.
Light weight

Cons:
Cheap plastic feel. I had it in my pocket and just bumping up against my keys scratched the phone. The wasn't a problem with any of my previous LG phones including my 5200.
Can't create a shortcut to the tip calc, only the regular calc.
The T9 SMS function is nicer than Moto's iTap

I like the phone, but it's not terribly inspiring and it would have been nicer with a more heavy duty body.

Apparently LG does not like to play nice with the bluetooth in my BMW, the handsfree works, but the phonebook won't transfer. I love LG phones, but now I have to decide to keep this phone, trade it for an VX 8700 or get some kind of Moto that will cooperate with my car. Any suggestions?

Excellent phone

I love the new VX 8350. I've had it for a week now and I can't find anything bad to say about it.
The design is great, very sleek and thin.
Call quality is very clear
Camera takes good pictures
Buttons feel nice.

Almost perfect for me

This is the cell phone I have been waiting for. Great call quality receiving and sending,
Nice large front display fonts, lots of loud ringbones, small light size, good battery life
And no finger prints.
Not for everyone, but perfect for me….Hope this helps
Scott

8350 is Just Fine!

I am new to Verizon. I first purchased the 2nd generation Chocolate. Keys were too sensitive, so I traded for the new RAZR MAXX. It was basically and old RAZR with a pretty face. Reception was horrible as well. So, for my last chance at a good phone, I went in to buy the 8300. They were sold out, so I got the upgrade, 8350. It does everything I need it to do, plus the screen is nice as well. The speaker actually plays more clearer and louder for downloaded ringers than the Chocolate and RAZR MAXX. It has the same features as the Chocolate and RAZR MAXX, but the price is much cheaper.

PRO'S:
Does everything you need it too.
Speaker sounds awesome, especially for downloaded ringers!

Con's:
It's very plain on the front.

The 8300 is much nicer looking in my opnion, but the screen is better looking on the 8350.

Ok, but not for me.

So I bought my LG VX-8350 directly from Verizon for a full price right after it became available. I played around with the phone, checked out the features, the menu interface and the camera and initiated a return of the phone back to Verizon. I did not like the phone as much as I thought I would. After using the Motorola Razr Maxx VE and getting used to it's large screen and keys, LG VX-8350's screen and keypad seemed really small. There is no dedicated camera key on the keypad, instead it's on the side. The menu system is alright. I'm not a fan of the music control buttons on the front of the phone. So, overall the phone is okay but not for me. I am returning it.

Wonderful!

I can't understand why customers do not like this phone. I change phones quite frequently and just recently had the razr 2. By comparison, there is not one thing that this phone cannot do that the razr can (other than weigh your pockets down). Everything works great including the speakerphone( I know some people have said they were having problems)! I am very surprised that this little phone can do so much. I am very impressed.

I have been with verizon wireless since day one. [bell atlantic mobile] My last phone was the lg8300 GREAT PHONE!. I just picked up the 8350 and this one is much better. LG is probably the best performing phone on verizons network by far. I am very rough on phones, and when they do not work I let verizon know it and for the most part they get me going again. I am not a dial and call customer no I use all of the features on my phones so this new lg8350 is a great performer five stars!

PRO'S

LOOKS
FEEL
PIC QUALITY
SOUND QUALITY
BATTERY LIFE
MINI SD MEMORY CARD
EMERGENCY CONTACTS BUILT IN

CON'S
NONE THAT I CAN SEE
