Music Kit for the EnV?

I was told by my Verizon Rep that the music kit for the chocolate works with the EnV. However, when I try to connect via USB and sync through WMP 11 my device is not recognized. Is this because I have the wrong kit or is there some other problem? Thanks!

I actually work for Verizon Wireless and I have to tell you, if you are using the Music Essentials kit to transfer music from your computer to your phone, do not upgrade to Windows Media Player 11. Our phones do not yet support that. If you still have the Software that same with the Music Essentials Kit, just reinstall that and it will install WMP 10 and you will have to use that to transfer your music. Let me know if that works for you!

Wow I was told by a rep from 2 different locations tell me the kit is not the same and will not work even with the cables being the same.I was under the impression that the drivers were different. Is this the case? The Env kit does not say it supports the 8600 on the box. Should it since the 8600 was out first?

That should not be the case. The software that is included in the Music Essentials Kit is brand specific. Since they are both LG phones then the software and the drivers would be the same. If the cables are also the same then there should be no problem.

Well, I rolled back the version of WMP to ver 10 and it still is not working. My device is still not recognized in WMP. When I connect the USB cable, my computer gives the tone as if it is recognizing a new device but no device shows up under "My Computer" either.

I'm wondering if it does indeed need a separate driver even though the USB connector is the same.

O.K. figured it out. I guess it pays to read the phone manual before asking questions. I didn't know the phone had to be in sync mode before it would be recognized by the computer. I'm used to my old SDA from T-Mobile that was recognized immediately when connected.

Thanks for all the input. Problem solved!
