Has anyone used the 9900 as a modem to connect a laptop to the internet? If so how is it and do you need any special equipment? Thanks for any help

Yep, do it all the time. it's called DUN (Dial Up Networking) You need either a data cable or a BT dongle, and you need to edit some files on the phone. check out HoFo

It violates yout Terms of Service Agreement with Verizon, so if you get caught, be prepared for the consequences (cancellation of your contract, and/or big fees). Hope this helps 🙂
