Mary,

I have been following your reputation on LG forums and would like to get your opinion on which vzw phone you would suggest today?

I currently own vx8100 and thinking about getting something new. I don't want vx8300 because the front buttons can't read txt. Other than that it looks like a great phone replacement for 8100.

At the moment I am debating between vx8600 and vx9900. Which one would you recommend?

No offense here but why does everyone ask Mary424 so many advice questions? What is her wireless resume? Mary, did you or do you work for Verizon?

Last but not least, I don't really understand why you would need some to choose a phone for you, Don't you pick a phone based on your own personal needs and wants?

the reason why people ask her is because she has used the phones before and its not just on phones that people ask her its on bluetooth headsets and other things as well. she is very knowledgeable and up to date when it comes to these questions because she has used so many different phones and headsets in the past. i remember her helping everybody in the lg 8100 forums all the ...

By the way I actually agree with Mary on a lot of what she says so it's all good. I was just curious. I have worked for a wireless provider in a retail and 3rd party selection so I like to also know where others get their knowledge.

Actually I don't, nor have I ever worked for Verizon or any wireless carrier, but I should! I swear every time I've been in a store, I've answered more people's questions than the employees! All my friends and family call me with all their Verizon questions also. (That part sucks sometimes)!
Anyway....I guess everyone has there "thing" and cell phones are mine. I don't know why, but I am just totally interested. I am a stay at home Mom of two small boys, and I take care of my 97 year old Grandmother, so I guess this is just my way of escaping into "another world"?

I have read your comments since I started reading these posts a while ago. I trust you and btw, my wife is a stay at home homeschooling two kids. Kudos to you for that and taking care of your grandmother. I still have my 8100. But I want the latest and greatest all the time. But would go broke doing that. It would be great if I could folderize (is that a word?) my mp3s on the memory card. Oh well, maybe on the next VZ LG masterpiece.

So I'm about 6 months late but I have the same question...I LOVE my 8100 but I text alot more now and was thinking about the enV. After doing all the reasearch I can I turn to Mary424 (btw 424 my bday, yours?)
My top things I'm looking for in a phone are able to get free tones without a cable, LOUD ring tone and speakerphone like the 8100 and and comfy fit when talking.
So, what do u think?
Thanks is advance!

I definately reccomend the EnV! I get new new phones all the time because I get bored, so rarely use the same one for long, but have been using the EnV for awhile now, even tried others recently but quickly went right back to it. BTW, yes, 4/24 is my birthday! Great phone!

I was having issues w/my enV, so the store exchanged it for another one. I noticed that the speakers next to the screen has changed a little from my previous one.(there's little blk. pieces in the upper corner) Is there any difference between them? 🙂

Pepsi Junky,

I am not asking people to choose a phone for me. I don't like 8600 because of bad battery and lack of standard headset jack. In general, it's always nice to hear someone else's opinion (obviosly not yours) about various phones and what people prefer and why.

I ask a question you get offended. Can't you just read it for what it says, no puns intended, no sarcasm? Cool.

PepsiJunky,

I was in a bad mood that day. Didn't mean to offend you.

It's cool, I understand, I was just curious about all of those things and I know what you meant. I think Mary may have more hands on experience with a lot of the phones but I have also had pretty good experience with Cell phones and providers so if you need anything holler at me.

Hi,

Thanks for asking. Nice to feel appreciated!

Anyway....Like you mentioned, the 8300 is a good replacement for the 8100, but you cannot read text on the outside screen and also the Bluetooth does not work very well on it. If you don't mind the text thing and don't use BT, it's an almost perfect phone.

Now, between the 8600 and the 9900, I personally have chosen to use the 9900 right now. The 8600 is very nice, but I think it is made a little cheap and the whole fingerprint thing is annoying. As far as how it functions as a phone, though, it's great. I think you would be happy with it. As far as the 9900 goes, I have found nothing wrong with it. It is a little on the bigger side, but not enough to bother me. Bluetooth ...

thank you marry, I have one last question...

Have you used DUN over bluetooth with 9900 or 8600? I'm using it with 8100 and I hear that newer phones are capable of tracking your data usage separately from vcast or other vzw apps, and charge you monthly fee. Where as 8100 does not have DUN by default, but can be modified through the registry and you got yourself a free Internet on occasional basis.

thanks,

Arkady

Thanks Mary,

I actually found it on Howard Forums :-)

Here is a link to HowardForums that has more then just DUN, you might like this page:

So now I'm just going to get 9900 and play with it.
