What could verizon's design team be thinking they make a phone like this and leave off WEB access 😕 My one year old Sanyo 7500 can view full HTML web pages.

Why bother making something like this and leaving off WEB access- this had so much potential as in all in monster- but now its just a brick for text junkies.

THEY AREN'T GOING AFTER A CORPORATE MARKET!!! This phone is made more for people under the age of 25 who text a lot and want a cool form factor and a qwerty keyboard. This phone is not made as substitute for a Q, Blackberry or Treo. STOP COMPARING IT TO THOSE PHONES. This phone is the ultimate texting device, not the ultimate email and web device.

But on my one year old Sanyo 7500 I have full HTML WEB access, they could of at least made this WEB enabled for those who wanted it, verizon should enable web on all their phones giving people the option of full HTML web pages without having to carry a big clunky PDA- don't you think?

Corpsman,

I see your point, but once again, if you want that feature, then get a smart phone. The target market for this phone is more concerned about a cool way to text and listen to music than browsing full web pages. And you can still use the web...just not full pages.

I see your point too I just think verizon is possibly missing out on data customers by not offering this.

I agree, they might be missing out on a few people. But I dont think you will have that many people passing on this phone because it doesn't have the ability to view full html pages. I'm sure a few will be pissed, but I'm sure the sales of this phone will be fantastic for VZN.

has anyone ever made a phone that could switch between a wap browser and full html? cause i love the standard wap browser on my phone for 90% of the stuff i need mobile. my email looks great, my sports, weather, and news stuff is really easy to access. but every once in a while i really want to access something a little more in depth. it would be awesome if it would default to wap for fast easy use, but switch when you needed it. maybe i'm asking too much.

i would not have bought it if it had the data plan. I want my vcast games, i want to be able to send pix and flix without kb charges(because I am not paying $45 for unlimited data package) I would have passed on it, otherwise i would have bought a Q months ago if i wanted a smart phone

It's only $150, if you want a smartphone you have to pay $400-$600. This is a pretty good value.

I can get the M610 for 179.99 with 25 dollar data package and view full HTML web pages, so 🙄 back at you.

Verizon is missing lots of the market by not offering full HTML on all their phones is all I'm saying, and on a phone like this its ashame they didn't.

and pay what for your data? Verizoon $45x24 months is a crap load of $. Many people would not want to pay for that crap, especially since it doesn't even include txt messaging.

I found that viewing a full html page on a cell window isnt all that great.. you have you use the diretional pad to "peer" around on the page.. its like only seeing a little square of the page.

This phone as well as other phones with Web access 2.0 do a more efficent job at browsing the web for a small screen.

Need information? Wickpidea, google, pictures, porn, you can get all of that at EV-DO speeds.

V-cast news is nice.. I dont have a tv where i work so i watch News clips that are updated hourly. NBCmoble, abc, cnn all provide free content

So.. full Html viewing on a small cellphone screen isn't all thats cracked up to be.

bluecat you made some great points! if you need to stay in touch that bad, I would get a blackberry and have true email and web access. Webpages are not that impressive. If I want to go on myspace or phonescoop, I'm pretty sure I can wait till I get home and use my 15in MacBook Pro. The bottom line with this argument is this; If you need to view full webpages, then get a phone that can do that. People that are buying this phone either don't care about that feature or ok with viewing WAP pages.

Whats $45.00

V-cast and unlimited web is 15 dollars a month.

$5 for unlim IN messaging, 50 outside carriers
10 for un-in, 250 outside
ect.

i dunno what the e-mail is.

you can check Yahoo, MSN, and aol e-mail.. and thats included with the web application.

my plan is..

40 for 400 mins
5.. phone insurance
15..vcat and unlimited internet.
5 unlim text
8 other applications

after other lil fees and taxes my bill is steady at 76 dollars a month.

i was talking about if it had full web like a pda, my point was i wouldn't want a $45 pda package, that was the point because people were bitching about the browser. I am aware what is available on it and i am all for it, much cheaper as you just stated

No, technically it is not a smartphone, however, it does provide an expanded browser for WAP 2.0 and distributes memory in a more practical way than your average EvDo handset. Furthermore, the only handsets offered by Verizon Wireless that do not support the email client (which is FREE) are handsets without Mobile Web 2.0 capability.

So if you are just using light-medium email and you want an expanded calendar and WAP 2.0 browser, this phone is definately smarter than anything else out there.

I felt that a simple yes or no would not do your question justice.
