i can get the speaker option to work when the phone is open, but not when it's shut. am i just missing something, or is not possible to use when the phone is closed? i have the holster for the phone, and it's clipped to the visor in my car, and i'd like to be able to use the speaker option, but the holster won't hold the phone when it's open. thanks for the help!

All the reviews and posts that I've seen confirm that you can only use the speakerphone when the phone is open. Fortunately, the speakerphone works well.

It's true, the enV's speakerphone WILL NOT work when th ephone is closed it makes sense becuase the candybar shell for the outside is like holding a regular phone whereas the inside screen how would you use that as a regualr phone? You just flip it open and if you've already activated the speakerphone then it automatically goes to sperakerphone...just the way it works. Now, if anyone has noticed w/ bluetooth headsets, once you turn your BT Headset on, the speakerphone instantly is turned off so whenever you turn off BT, if you always want to have your speakerphone on, you always have to remember to turn it back on. Just something that I've noticed.

That makes sense; but sometimes, I personally would like to be able to talk with the phone in the closed position (especially if I'm running or something and don't feel like using the BT. Is there a hack that can allow this?

I don't think so to be honest w/ you it's just the way the enV is made that's all. I think I understand what you mean, but that's just not how it is. Personally, it doesn't really bother me cause when i'm driving and usually when i'm in my house or just doing stuff, i'll wear my BT headset and it works fine. I'll still talk on the regular phone... i guess it just depends but i still have no complaints.

Yeah I have no complaints either; actually even though there is the keyguard lock on the front, there was an instance the other day when I was running to catch my plane that somehow the keys got unlocked and it dialed one of my friends. The phone was "connected" for over 2 minutes! (b/c he was trying to listen on to what was going on). But later he told me that he couldn't hear anything.

I think he has the i730 PDA which I believe has speaker phone while closed. When that happened to him when it was in his pocket, I could hear him clearly.

So in a sense it probably is a good thing to have speakerphone disabled for the outside.,

yup definitely true. I have my keyguard set for 10 seconds or something. it's the 2nd option cause the first one is way too short for me considering how much i play and use my phone so the 2nd setting is perfect. you ever notice that if you ownt he leather pouch for the enV if you lean on it on an angle it'lll always press and dial out the number 7? That's just weird and i've had that happen to me a number of times. I mean it doesn't bother me too much, I'm just saying...lol.

Actually, for me it's always number 8. I don't own the leather case or anything (I just keep it in my pocket). but for some reason, it always dials number 8. One of my friends is on Speed Dial 8, so he occasionally gets calls from me with "dead air" lol. but it's not bad - very rare that it happens - only like a total of 2 or 3 times max that I've had that problem.

yeah it's werid cause like i said, i do own the leather pouch so it does always dial the number 7 and i know that if and when it does dial it out, nothings going to happen but i hear a little ringing in my BT headset so i instantly take my phone out and obviously disconnect the call. I don't know, i just think it's a bit weird. When you're sending out a text, and you recieve an incoming call, an then you end that call, does your enV allow you to go back and continue typing that message? At first mine didn't but then somehow it did. I still have to play around w/ that a bit but yeha it's all good.

Hmmm, well actually I think if I get an e-mail alert from Mobile E-mail but ignore it, then yes it will let me just continue typing. But I believe if I receive an incoming call, it will automatically save it to the drafts folder. I could be wrong about that, but that's the way I remember it from last time I think. Hey I know this is going off the speakerphone thread, but do you know what the "lock" function does on GIN games? I tried to lock one of my games, but it does nothing - you can still access it.

A lock. I mean i've heard of it maybe it's to keep the appliction from getting accidetnally deleted. That's the only thing I could think of.

Ahh yes I totally didn't think of that. That makes sense too - that "lock" prevents other things like txt or pixs from being deleted - I didn't think of that!

That would be nice, though, if GIN apps could be locked so that no one downloads stuff w/o your knowledge. But oh well.

Yaeh true. Oh wells. That lock is there to just prevent it from being accidentally deleted that's all.
