Importing MP3s
My daughter just purchased the 9900 and is having some problems getting her mp3s organized on the phone.
We have many mp3s that have been downloaded from different sources. I formated the SD memory card and copied the songs over to the correct directory on the memory card. When the card is inserted into the phone and she brings up the music player, all the songs are just listed by "unknown artist". We downloaded and installed Vcast Music manager. She went in and added album names, artist names etc. to each song. I again copied the songs from the computer over to the card and the results are still the same. No organization, no sorting etc..just "unknown artist"
Can you just copy songs over to the sd card or MUST you copy and sync ...

I'm sorry to hear about your .mp3 woes with the 9900. Personally , I just drag-and-drop my .mp3's right into the "my_music" folder on the card, no cable, no renaming IDV3 tags. Every once in a while some of the artists will show up as "unknown" but if I just edit the tag in winamp with the correct artist, genre, etc. and make sure to save, it usually works. One note: the phone reads IDV1 tags a lot better than IDV3 tags, so you may want to use winamp to make sure the tags are only IDV1. But it also may depend on your .mp3's, you probably want to do some trial and error with renaming tags to see what works for you. 😁

I see this as well. I have about 205 MP3 files on my memory Card and i use Limewire to download and transfer the files. Just like Ashaneen, i drag and drop MP3 files from my library to My Music folder and once I insert the memory card into my phone, and load up VCast Music, the software automatically categorizes the songs. FOr me t hough, about 40 or so of my songs are in the Unknown Category but when you scroll over each song in thatCategory both the Artists name ans song title are usually there which is a bit weird to me. usually a,ll of my music is categorized by album title, artist, or song title so it's not too big of a deal but i also am sorry to hear about your troubles. It should work fine though and I'm just using my memory card w/ ...
