Cingular has shown this phone on their rebate sheet for almost 2 months now. Being that American Idol starts up again on January 17, 2006, I expect this phone will hit the Cingular stores somewhere around that time as well. The store reps had been saying that the phone would be released before the holidays. Knowing Cingular, they are probably still testing the phone. HAHAHA!!!!
Hi NY!!! That seems to be Cingular's flavor these days--to release a phone once it has become outdated. On the GSM side, if T-Mobile ran its operations in the United States, the way they do overseas, they could knock Cingular off the map. It's frustrating having service with a carrier that releases phones 8 months or more after the original release date. *sigh*
I'm so tempted to go with T-Mobile just because they have a fun collection of phones and unlocked phones are usually readily available for it. I'm sure worried about the service. I need to buy a house or something so I can stop buying phones. lol.

As a matter of fact, they just put up 67 new towers where I live. Amazing!!! When I had T-Mobile previously, all of the phones that I had with them were already unlocked. Yes, there are tons of unlocked phones available for their service unlike Cingular service because we need that 850 MHz band on it and there's not a lot of phones with that. On top of that, there voice and data plans are lot cheaper than Cin... (continues)
I believe that both things may be true. I have seen some American Idol commercials about 2 weeks ago stating that the first show will be January 17, 2006. Yet, the Cingular sales reps keep saying that it will be any day now. Yeah...right...
This phone has been on the rebate sheet since early November. How do you place phones on a rebate sheet that haven't been released by your company and may not ever be released?!?! I think Cingular likes to get people hyped up and then when the phone is finbally released, it's a big disappointment.
This can be part of the reason that Cingular is quickly losing a lot of its customer base. Many customers in this area are switching to Verizon and paying the ETF. If Verizon plays, its cards right,... (continues)
