i just saw this phone available on cingular forums starting monday and i have had my eyes set on the nokia 6102 for months now, but i was wondering what any one thought about this phone...why all the negative? i mean i know nokias are the best but LG isnt bad...i think ... i have seen some of their verizon phones and they arent bad, and pretty reliable...anyone know the cost with a new line in store / online but not letstalk.com? and reviews from people who have it...this could be an option because it might be cheaper than the 6102 and its coming out sooner...!
thanks.

I just got the C2000 yesterday at Cingular; they had just put it out on the shelf yesterday morning. It was $89.99 in the store, but you get a $30 mail-in rebate, so the total cost will be $59.99.

Things it has:
The camera can take different resolutions and can do color/b&w/sephia.
Address book: 3 numbers per contact, plus email address, picture ID, notepad, voice dial.
Groups: set distinct ring tones for groups.
Keypad: great layout; shortcuts; speakerphone; speed dial; voice dial.
Tools: Calculator, tip calculator, calendar; measurement conversion; alarm; voice memos; notepad.
Ringtones: comes with 18 (and I like them!)
External display: shows time, battery, voice mail indicator, signal strenth, caller ID (with picture)

Is the external Caller ID in color? I wasn't really sure what the faux color display would be capable of. I'm glad you like it so far because I'm going to be getting one sometime this week. By the way, how is the call reception? Just wondering. Thanks!

When you close the phone and the backlight stays on for 30 seconds (or whatever you choose), the external display has a color wallpaper background that looks like Windows XP's "Bliss" wallpaper (blue skies, clouds, and green hills), with the information displayed on top of it in black lettering. After the backlight turns off, it looks like a standard external display - light gray background with black lettering.

Also, I thought I remembered seeing the picture ID on the external display for an incoming call, but I was wrong... I just tested it and it lights up the color background, lists the number (or name if they are a contact), and shows the Icon you have assigned to their group, if applicable.

The reception on this phone is FAR be...

this phone is actually pretty good.. looks like lg got another phone right. we got it a few days ago at my store and played around with one. It seems pretty good from the half hour messing around with it, the the call quality seems pretty good.

Overall, it's a good entry level camera phone.

I did some tests on my phone and here is what I found for resolutions:

* The total Memory available for pictures is 300000B (300KB).

* 640x480 is the highest res. Those pics ran between 20KB & 30KB each, usually closer to 30KB. It let me take about 10 and then it was full.

* 320x240 is the next highest res. Those ran between 5KB & 15KB each, usually below 10KB. You could take between 20 to 60 pics, probably around 40 on average.

* It also does 160x120 and 128x160. The files sizes are less than 5KB each, so it will hold a LOT of those, but they would be pretty poor quality.

I took some pics in a dim room and they turned out kind of yellow, because that's the kind of bulb that was in the lamp. However, I hadn't yet messed around with the following options, which probably would have helped:

*Brightness: Manually adjust how light/dark the picture is. -4 to +4

*White Balance: Choose from Auto, Daylight, Incandescent, Cloudy, and Flourescent. Each setting adds/removes hues to offset the strong whites and colors of different settings.

*Color Effect: Color, Sepia, Mono (B&W)

*Self Timer: off, 5 seconds, 10 seconds

*Multi-shot: 1 shot, 3 shots

*Shutter Sound: silent or choose from 3 camera sounds

It doesn't let me take pics with the phone closed, unless I'm missing a setting in the menus that lets me set that as an option.

The screen is really easy to read and is very bright when I'm indoors, but I have noticed that it's hard to see it when I'm outside in the sunlight. ☹️
