Good Phone - Horrible Software and Cingular Offerings
The only functions available in QWERTY mode are Notes, SMS, and Instant Messaging.
You can not get POP3/IMAP mail, or browse medianet or the internet in general in QWERTY mode. In fact, if you want to type in a URL, you have to open the phone up, in portrait mode, and type it using the stand T9, numberpad input. What is the purpose of having a full QWERTY keyboard, if you have to you use the alpha-numeric entry method??
This phone is ass-backwards. You can not install software on it via bluetooth - such as Java, etc - because Cingular probably want's you to download it through them. You can install an AOL/Yahoo only mail client for use in QWERTY mode, but when you do install it, it opens whenever you open the phone in side-flip fashion, and spends at least a minute checking for an upgrade, rendering the phone inaccessable for a minute.
Does anyone know any answers to these questions, besides returning the phone and getting a razor, and just forgetting about mobile email in a svelte package entirely?
