This reminds me of one other difference between the two phones, however. The 950 is capable of recording voice or other sounds of your choosing, and setting those as the ringtone or alert sounds. So as long as you don't mind sitting your phone next to a speaker and recording the song you want to play as your ringtone, you can assign actual songs to various sounds on the phone.

My 8100 had the volume problem and I switched it with 3 8100's, all of them had the issue.
My a950 had a problem where the noise would cut in and out, supposedly due to their noise cancellation hardware/software. I exchanged it twice and both of them had the problem.
If i'm one of the unlucky ones. They still shouldn't have any phones that show these type of problems.
In my opinion phones aren't being built to be used as phones anymore. They're more of a multimedia unit where you can watch videos and play music and show off to your friends/co-workers.
