Unbranded Samsung SCH-A950 >>>>> Verizon Samsung SCH-A950

I'm sure there's a unbranded A950 floating around somewhere and I would love to own it. Verizon pretty much ruined it by forcing samsung to implement verizon's UI to it. I wouldn't be so against the verizon version if it weren't for it's horrible restrictions, causing me to dislike it. I REALLY wanted to like the verizon version, but I just can't, and I won't. End of.

Just checking in in 2009

Yes, I am still using the Samsung 950! I just wanted everyone to know that this phone is still alive and kicking. It is autumn 2009, I've had this phone almost 4 years (antique in cell phone life), and the only negative is that the battery requires recharging more frequently which is no surprise considering that it's the original battery. I'm working on that, though. Still sounds great, has great signal, looks good and does a great job overall. Bonus: it's so old that I no longer am obligated by contract to any carrier--haven't been for almost two years. Something to be said with sticking with something that works as opposed to being part of the "new, more, bigger, better" crowd, don't ya think? 😲

are there compatability issues with 1gb microsd?

i had a 512 microsd card and was able to take pics and save to the card without issues. i tried several 1gb microsd cards and when i try to save to the card directly it gives a "camera error 37"

if i save to the pic to the phone mem and then move it to the microsd, it works properly.

any ideas? firmware update?

MP3 Player Problem.

so i got the transflash in 1 gigs.
i syncronized the songs to the phone trough a cable cord, using the windows media player 10.
the process was fine.
but when i try to play the music with my phone some will not work, some will play for a few mintues then it will keep pausing and then skips to the next song.

could the problem be the memory card?
or what i can i do to fix this problem?
it's making me frustrated.

Camera->transflash->PC?

I am thinking about getting one, but want to check a couple of assumptions first. Any answers from a current owner would be greatly appreciated.

1) Can I set an option to cause all new pictures + video to be stored on the transflash card instead of internal memory?

2) Can I put the transflash card into my PC and easily copy images + video to my hard drive? Assuming I have an TF->SD card adapter and SD reader.

3) Can I copy images + video from internal memory to transflash for later dump to PC?

Thanks!

How to upload pictures to your pc

Hey guy, I've been wanting to upload pictures on my phone to my pc for so long, but everytime I attach the USB from the phone to my pc, it says the software can't be found. It tells me to insert a disc and get the software, however, when I got the phone, it didn't come with a software disc. So I was wondering if there is any other way I can upload to my PC without the software or disc or if i can download the software from the internet.

Thanks!

Urg- yet another set of questions on music & ringtones

🙄 Sorry, gang- I have read through quite a bit of the forum, but I'm still left with just a few questions.

(Note: I have the phone, and a transflash card)

1. Should I opt to buy the music kit from Verizon, am I right in assuming that I will then be able to transfer my music files (one way or another) onto my phone to use as ringtones? I have no use for my phone being a standalone mp3 player or something, I just want to have ringtones!

2. In the above case, will it be the whole song, or would I be forced to have 30 second clips?

3. Alternitively, if I pot to just buy a cable and download the drivers, what is the answer to those questions as well?

4. Is there any major disadvantage to buying the cable/downloading the dri...

Is this forum dead?

It looks as though there has been very little discussion in regard to the Samsung SCH-A950 lately. 😕 Has everyone upgraded to a new phone? What phone would you (have you) considered upgrading to and why?

ANY HELP FOR MAC USERS?

I am running mac os x, with itunes, as opposed to windows media 10. According to Verizon Tech Support, the software requires WMP 10 to run, and apparently you cannot just save mp3's to the memory card and play them, like you can on other multi-media phones. Is there any kind work-around out there?

Help with my music!

I bought the software, cable and transflash card. I did sync music in Media Player. The cell phone also told me that sync successfully completed. But when I went to "My Music" and I found nothing in there.
Cound someone tell me what was wrong?
Thanks!

Assigning sounds as ringtones on the sammy A950

I put 2 ringtones from my computer to my memory stick then moved them from external memory to internal memory. the sound files were then put in 'Transfered Sounds' (Menu > Music&Media > My Albums > Sound Album > Transfered Sounds)

Is there a way i can assign them as my ringtones instead of buying them?

Storing pics to transflash card

When I take a pic, then store to memory card, the files do not show that they exist on the memory card. While the card is in the phone, I try to look up stored images that I saved on the card, however they are not there. Also, when I use a card reader, it doesn't show that I have any pic files on the card, just music files. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards...

Contact Pictures

OK, so I setup a name as a contact and decide to use that cool feature where I can assign a photo for that contact. I find the contact, select that I want to set the contact image, select an image and I get the error "Picture ID supports below 320 by 240"

I think the fact that this camera is so badly designed that it can't even use its own photos for contact photos shows why people shouldn't even touch this phone with a 10 foot pole. How effing stupid!

Can I play music from other than VCast?

I just downloaded quite a few songs from Walmart via Windows Media Player. I have transferred the songs onto my transflash, but it fails to "acquire license". This seems to prevent the phone from playing the songs.

Is there a way to play music on this Verizon phone other than from the VCast site? PLEASE HELP!
