Are people stupid?

I've read a lot of the user reviews for this phone and a lot of the complaints are for missing features that aren't missing. Before bashing a phone, read the manual!

So, YES there is a quick way to silent the phone. press and hold the vol. down on the side with the phone open. "sound off activated" wow

And, YES you can store pictures and video on the transflash. (which is fantastic, because you can then put them on your computer WITHOUT vpix. camera on/ options/ settings/ memory...

There are others, but I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I think the problem is, people expect too much out of the phones. Even capabilities that the manufacturer never promised. These electronic companies have spoiled us rotten and now some of us complain about any and everything. Excluding my camcorder problem. If you have a camcorder on the phone, the audio and visual should be in sync. That's a given in 2005 (lol).

ulrich673,

Are people stupid? So I make one complaint in a review where I basically praise the phone and you fish it out to call me stupid?

When this illogically placed setting was revealed on this forum I acknowledged it. I was sorry at the time that I had permanently branded myself by stating it as a con of the phone. I did go on to rate the phone with a 4.5 so was I really harping on a b1tch? Further, a more accurate complaint would be illogical setting placement. These devices are meant to be intuitive.

Did you know that you can add words to the voice to text dictionary by putting them in an entry for a contact? That's not in the manual.

Oh, and when you finally load your own ringtone with bitpim go read the sticky at hofo ...

Western Son, Don't take it personal since. I actually thought he was referring to me on the post when he talked about silencing the phone since I had made a comment about it a few days before. I fumed for a while, then realized it wasn't worth it. People should post comments as if they were talking to a stranger face to face.... politely was how I was brought up.

I apologize for directly quoting you. I realize I should have left the comment to broad generalities. The only point I was trying to make was that many people are quick to voice opinions on here before doing any research. Obviously you aren't among them.

I have used this site and this forum for the last 5 phone purchases I have made. Many times taking "cons" to heart that later were not the case.

So, again, I apologize for singling you out.

I do have the phone, and I am very pleased with it. I've carried it for about 3 weeks and have minor complaints. At first the size of the phone was a bit much, but I got used to it. The slow menu is annoying and it's taking me a while to get used to the swivel when opening the phone with...

I personally think that the Verizon UI is very intuitive and I am able to find everything where it logically should be on the phones. I don't understand why everyone is complaining about it.

ulrich673,

Thanks for taking the time to clear up your intentions. At the time I posted my review I had been using the phone for a week or two. The climate on the site was turning against the phone. There was much misinformation being spread about the phone by people who didn't even have it as well as some rather negative reviews being posted. At the same time there were several like me who had recently purchased the phone and had not stumbled across the instructions in the manual or the setting on the phone to change the text input method.

Knowing that the word of mouth or climate of a site like this one can do much to make or break a phone I felt that a generally positive, comprehensive review (if a little early) was due. More peopl...

wait for it... wait for it....

SAY A COMMAND!!

I don't think you can shut her up. She's real loud in my jabra bt250

western son, I agree that we were on the same page. It really made me mad that the negative talk on this phone almost kept me from buying it. This is my favorite phone I've ever had, going back to my analog startac in 98. The same thing almost happened on the a670. All phonescoop opinions pointed me to the comparable moto phone which I hated and returned immediately. I've since learned just to walk in the store and buy the best samsung phone that's available at the time and I will be happy.

There is a way to setup the volume on some of the command prompts. Go to Tools and Settings --> Call Settings --> Voice Services --> Train Word --> Sound --> Name Settings. From there you can change the speed and volume of the names. Hope this helps. 🙂

HHA HA HA HA! We know that not everybody reads the manual so then they start complaining about the phones! I work for a cell phone company and I get these people all the time...my phone is not working... (and it's actually something that does work but they don't know how to work it!)
