Samsung SCH-A970
970 vs. 8100...
I saw and touched the A970 today at about 12 noon at the BestBuy store in Westbury, NY.
I did not see it in operation... the sales rep. said the AC adapter wasn't available and the battery had run down.
He said they have 2 in stock, and the price is $350 (not sure about rebates).
Anyway, I'm a little leery about the swivel screen... it seemed a little wobbly.
The quality of the phone itself looked and felt OK, but NOT as good as the 8100. The 8100 felt SOLID in comparison!!
When the Verizon stores have the 970, I may give it a try before I actually get the 8100.
Then I'll make my final decision on this whole issue!!

I agree the 8100 feels solid but with all the issues that I had with it (got frustrated with the 3 8000's before it that I didn't have the patience to deal with another phone screwing up). I would have gotten the Samsung but I'm waiting to see what the CDMA Razr is like before choosing the A970 or the Razr.
To be quite honest though, if I had to choose between the 8100 and the 970, it would hands down be the 970.

Have you had the new software flase\hed to your phone? My 8100 gives me probs. I'm looking forward to the 970 as I'm a huge samsung fan. I'm goin to check out that phone the next time that i'm in best buy.

Yes I have had v4 on my phone for almost 2 weeks. Besides I didnt have the problems that others complained about(knock on wood) I wanted the update SOLELY for the Mp3 player and I am very pleased with it and the phone overall. This is no disrespect toward the a970. It also looks like a very good phone but time will tell. We all know how VZW can screw a phone up.
