Did *228, now I can't make calls
I did the *228 update on my phone, for the first time in a very long time. Since then, every time I make a call, I instantly lose all my signal, and get a 'no service' text on my screen. Eventually I get the "call failed". As soon as the call fails, the signal comes back.
Also my phone used to display 1X almost all the time. Now it mostly has a red EV but switches to 1X from time to time.
And, every once in a while, I'll get or receive a phone call. I was able to make one call today. All the million other calls I tried to make didn't go through.
Its not a signal thing, its that somehow the call isn't picked up and the phone drops the signal. I've called verizon and they had me reset my phone a bunch of times, pop the batter, redo the *228 update etc. No luck.
So then they told me just go to a verizon store and have them reload the phone's firmware. I did that and it also had no effect. I'm well out of warranty and well out of contract, just waiting for a good deal to come along on an iPhone, so theres no chance I'm going to get another verizon phone. But since their stupid *228 update did this to my phone, I do think they should fix it for free. If not I'll just get a new iPhone now, even though $75 a month is absurd.
