Change it to something other than Vibrate THEN plug it in.

Think for a second.

Delicate electronics + High Voltage + Vibration = bad.

Mine does the same thing. I believe it goes back to the original ring or vibrate once it's unplugged. I always thought it was some kind feature to eliminate missing any calls while charging. Sorry, but I don't know how to turn it off.

What the phone really does is change to the "Loud" ringer profile when you plug it in. Just change the "Loud" profile to what you want - you can even change it's ringer to vibrate or silent, if that's what you want.

P.S. No, I don't think it would harm the phone to vibrate while it was charging.
