The E815 has to be the worst phone Motorola has put out to date. I have always loved Motorola phones V600,V710,STARTAC,AND ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BAG PHONE i HAVE IN MY OFFICE. I'm not sure what they did to the 815 but I am on my second unit and its no better than the first.
My first complaint has to be in the contact database,If you decide to use either Iphonebook, or backup assistant the contact are downloaded to your phone with a blank default picture in each contact,I have yet figured out how to change this without going into each contact and deleting the blank picture template,If you are like me and use your phone for business you have alot of contacts, I have over 350, that does not include the multiple phone numbers or Email addre...

i dont want to seem rude but if you are using this for buisness maybe the treo 650 would be a better choice. I think that it would probably be more buisness friendly

no rudeness taken!!! I dont disagree with you but my issue with the phone is based merely on its poor software design, rather than its ability to serve my business needs.
If you are a user of this phone, and downloaded your contacts via the method I discribed earlier how did you make the change to get rid of the blank picture template on every entry? Or change over ringtones?

My complaint was more of "hey this new software sucks and how do you fix it"

Any suggestions

I havn't had problems with the contact list but I dont use the phone for business purposes. I love the phone, especially the reception, but the battery life is NOT what it says it is.

Go into your contact list. Select the menu button (middle on the top row), then go all the way to the bottom. You'll see "Setup" down there. Select that. You'll see a "View by" entry. Select that and you can choose to view your list using pictures or only as a list. I have mine set to "List" and can see 7 entries at a time on my screen.

Also on that screen is a place to set what entries you see for each contact. I have mine set to "Primary" so I only see each contact once but can then select which number I want to dial for them.

Thanks. I'm sure list vs pic. saves on battery life, just not as interesting. 🙂

I use mine for business and I used mobile PhoneTools 3.25b to sync with Bluetooth to my laptop Outlook 2003 into my Exchange server.

Sync with Outlook and it works perfectly.

Gregg,

I have MPT 3.11. How did you get or upgrade to 3.25b and where did you get the driver? Can you email the driver to me if I send you my address?

Thanks for you help.

Load MPT, click on the Help menu on the phone graphic, then click Update. Mine was updated to 3.25b (4/8/2005).

Open MPT 3.11, click on the generic phone's Setup menu and run Live Update. Close and re-open the application, then detect your phone.

I do it to my laptop via Bluetooth with no additional drivers.

You can have your contacts listed in two ways. Bye pic and name or just name, Read the book that came with the phone!

LG 8100 vs Moto E815 . . .

Both fall short. Mediocre cameras.
VCast is worthless.

The only value I see here is mobile web but both the LG and Moto have way too small screens to make it worth the cash. It's there but totally ridiculous unless you only view their content which is limited at best.

The only logical choice is to go with the Treo 650 if you want to use the full technology of these devices. Camera is a little less but these are just 'snapshots' and nothing move.

You loose EVDO but you gain what you really need, a big screen and a decent interface for the mobile web.

Everthing else is fluff, particularly ringtones, listening to MP3s (much better and smaller players available) and everything else.

Don't believe the...

Unfortunately, as a phone, the Treo leaves a lot to be desired. If what you want is a phone with very good reception, outstanding voice dialing, a decent speakerphone and very good bluetooth support for headsets, the E815 wins hands down . . . even without the hacks.

LG needs to learn how to improve reception strength, found a new partner and one that is taken me by the heart right off the bat.
