đ Hello pupils...got the phone.....AWESOME!!!
Everything about the phone is way better, in the sense that the first thing that I noticed was that the keypad is bigger and the backlight is Blue now--yeah!
The BLUETOOTH works a little better, still cannot use with the laptop. So what, the screen is more vibrant and the speech recongnition is way better and simplified. The phone is given a bigger battery, do not worry the phone is still the same size as the v710, and it is all gray and finished aluminum on the exterior. The best thing is that you can finally change the front LCD screens' wallpaper!
This is it so far, I have been too busy to really play with the phone much, but that is it so far.
Post your q's and I will try to have a's...

The most obvious questions is...HOW DID YOU GET ONE and HOW MUCH? Is the reception or the ability to get a signal as good as the V710? Thanks.
...
I gather fron prior posts he is a tester.
I think? đ

Can you still transfer to and from the transflash to the phone? Or more importantly, can you set ringers from the transflash without transfering to internal memory?
Did they improve camera quality?
...
aldcon is a tester for vzw he always gets the new phones.... he gave us a lot of feed back on the v710 when it was in testing... I also got my hands on a 815 last night.. I went to my companies vendor show and the moto rep was there and had the 815... I spent like 20 minutes just going through the phone and playing with it... the camera is slightly better..its not blurry the focus is fixed.. no you can't set ringers from the tflash card... but I didn't even think about checking for the mp3 block that the 710 currently has... how ever a seem edit should fix that if its there... I'm sad to say no OBEX... I looked all over the phone.. its not there.... it only has the same bluetooth options as the 710.. moto rep said its not the final sw versio...

You cant Bluetooth for OBEX but you can bluetooth for evdo access on your laptop... which for $15 a month and unlimted broadband internet... its quite a deal!

It's really only $15 add'l a month for Unlimited EVDO Internet??? I would really consider dropping my cable modem if it works well!
...
Its really a great feature its just a matter of time though. It takes a lot of time for this feature to hit all the places Verizon covers. I know in the part of Michigan i am in from what im told we wont be seeing it till end of this year early next year but they are releasing and selling these phones like hotcakes because these phones are awesome the clearity and everything. I know surrounding states like IL and OH have this feature though at least part of those states do.

I thought that you are not supposed to do that but instead get the unlimited internet for $80. If I remember correctly they will monitor to see if u abuse the $15 by using ur phone as a modem.

Is your Get It Now working yet? Mine isnt. Somone said they were able to get on it the other day. I still get the error message on my 815. Let me know if it works for you?

tried gin last night and no it did not work nor did mobile web

For those of you who has the E815, is it an engineering demo? I just got mine the other day and mine is an engineering demo. I have not had a chance to play with it yet, mainly because I'm having problem activating it on my NSR plan. I think GIN now will not work until VZW release the phone and get it loaded in their system, so, there is hope since someone on HoFo saw a few apps showed up on his phone. I have a couple of questions for you guys though, do you think we will need to seem edit or re-flash the phone with VZW version software in order to get VCast to work? Does anyone of you have VCast working on your E815 yet? Also, what version software is on your phone? I'm at work right now and does not have the phone with me, so I'll post min...

When you said NSR do you mean National Single Rate? If so, the reason you may be having difficulty is because you need a tri-mode phone with those plans. All digital ESN's are valid with those rate plans.
...
VZMoney, you're correct. VZW used to allow you to activate all digital phones on NSR, but I was told you're no longer able to do that. âšī¸ Since I live in the midwest, I saw in HoFo that supposedly with the new plan, you'd actually loose coverages in some places, especially in the midwest, that's why I'm still on NSR. In fact, I just talked to a VZW CS rep yesterday and I'll be changing over to the new AC II plan towards the end of next month so I can try out the coverage, I have 30 days to try it out and change back if I want. Unless I can find someone at VZW that will force the E815 ESN in the system for me, I will not be able to activate that phone and try out all the features, but I can tell you that the camera is a lot better than the 7...

No, I'm from Missouri. I've tried again and I can't get this darn phone activated. I know another guy that has the same engineering demo as I do and he's able to activate his (although he's on one of he AC plan, forgot which), but he's really liking his 815. I just wish I can get mine activated without having to change plan or add another line. đŋ

duh! the phone is not release on verizons network yet man. good lord, what makes you think the everything would work. Thats what you get for buying it
...
Natas, I think you need to take a chill pill. I don't know what's your problem and careless to know. For those of us that have the engineering demo phones, these phones have not been loaded with the VZW crippling software yet, therefore, it is very much worth buying it. Even if it is loaded with VZW's crippling software, it's still people's choice whether or not they want this phone. I don't know why you are so hyper about what other people want, must be too much time on your hand.

I'm just saying the e815 is the same as the v710 minus evdo. So why spend 500 hundred on another v710. It doesnt make any sense.
...
Does Natas remind anyone of one of our old spammer friends from the V710 forum đ . Dead set on deterring people from this phone đ .

I have a question for you. Since you have the phone, can you tell me if mp3s can be setup as ringtones, and if a 128-192kbps bitrate is ok to play on this phone. Thanks!
...
Will you be able to transfer MP3's and videos from your computer to the E815 via the transflash card? I heard it's gonna be crippled on the vx-8100 so I was thinking it might be crippled on this phone too. Thanks for any info.
...
I think it will be the same as it was on the v710, so it shouldnt be crippled...if it is that really sux.. đŋ
...
I was browsing the forums on V710.org and their were many references to the Verizon firmware "upgrade" disabling the ability to transfer files from your computer to the V710. We'll see when the E815 comes out, I guess.

How does this work. .I was under the impression when I plugged my phone into my computer w/ the card installed that it would show up as an external device - but that is not working.
Any ideas?
