No, it will not be tri-mode, strictly digital, but will still have the pull-up antenna? It will do CDMA 850 / 1900. According to many sources after 1/1/2006 there will be no more analog signal anyway, so the tri-mode of V710 will not help.

FCC mandates that all carrier must maintain analog until Feb 2008, not sure what date it was set in Feb, but they can't just pull the plugs. I don't know what will happen after Feb of 2008 especially with small towns that has analog towers to support maybe a few hundred people. I think wireless phone manufacturers are getting us ready by producing less tri-mode phones, but it's definitely not going completely away yet, they just manufacture fewer and fewer phones with tri-mode. I just hope all towers will be converted to digital by then, otherwise they will be leaving people without wireless service. 😢

the thing with analog is yes some areas arent digital and are tri-mode but what happens when you hit analog reception? You lose your call almost all of the time. These days its almost a useless feature digital is so upbeat now its unreal and i heard that as of 1/1/2006 analog will be unplugged its just has done its time and no carrier really uses it you go into a store and ask for a tri-mode phone they laugh at you which is rude and tell you they have 2 or 3 tri-mode phones to choose from out of 25 phones to choose from its just reality. And i am someone that prefers tri-mode because i feel a safety net with a backup there.

Ah, I use analog everytime I go "upnorth." It is the only service available. The Goverment says that analog must not be turned off untill 2008.

Yea i know it puts a lot of people in a lot of bad situations because the tri-mode phones they offer arent worth anything to anyone. And ones tri-mode is gone we wont have a back up mode which will really suck but all that the cell phone reps tell us is what happens when you get a analog call you cant hear anything or you lose it. Well than i ask why do you still have analog/tri-mode coverage on your map!

I don't understand your post. My tri-mode is worth it to me because when I am in upper Michigan there is no digital CDMA, no GSM, only analog.

What i meant is that all of the Verizon sales reps at least are trying to switch people over to pure digital/digital PCS cell phones thats why you only see like 3 tri-mode phones out of 20 cell phones verizon offers when you walk into their store which is wrong. Its not fair to the customer because i feel a lot safer with tri mode but depending on where you are up north i dont know if u mean UP up north in Michigan or like Alpena up north in Michigan but Verizon dont have the best coverage UP wise in Michigan and i am also from Michigan and im hoping for better coverage in the UP it would be really nice its a beautiful place up there. But anyways im very leary about switching to all digital phones but it seems thats all they are making be...
