Call screening?

In the description of the phone in Phonescoop it says there is call screening. I've never had this before on a phone, and don't really understand it.
I did find the option for Auto Answer for varying amounts of time (Off, 5 secs, 10 secs, 18 secs)...but I can't seem to get the auto answer to work.
Anybody have an answer to this, and explain the call screening to me and how to use it?

i guess you can screen your calls by seeing who calls on ur i.d. before you pick up, unless you don't recognize the number. is that in the manual? i didn't see anything like that
...
