Audiovox CDM-8940
Picture ID on outside
Has ANYONE figured out how to get the picture ID to work on the outside of the phone yet?? this is a big deal to me and could be a deciding factor between the 8940 and VX8000 if audiovox (or UTStarcom) was idiotic enough to forget this feature similar to the time they forgot the ring AND vibe option on the CDM9900. I got this phone Feb. 1 and like it so far.
I started putting in my photos for caller ID, and when I assign it from the Gallery to a caller, it saves it, then goes back to the phonebook screen and locks up. I've tried hitting all the buttons and nothing will work. The screen goes blank...I close the flip and open it back up and the screen is still blank. The phone totally locks up. However, if I wait long enough (about a minute or so), the phone will go through every key press I had made really fast, and then will return to normal operation.
Anyone else experiencing this? Or is it just my phone in particular. If it is a bug, how soon and how likely is Verizon/UTStarcom to come out with a fix.

I have experienced the same thing sometimes while I'm accessing the Vcast feature which after the first 2 months free, I'm doubting I'll pay $15 a month to see little clips. Doesn't seem worth the money, also you can never watch that many clips anyway, kills your battery. I'm still hoping there might be a way to retrieve and add video content to sd card through hacking. It's almost useless not to include downloading/uploading your own media except for mp3's for listening only..

Looks like it "ain't" gonna to happen. The only thing good about having the picture id pop up on the inside is if you have someone's bootylicious shot as an i.d. and don't want it popping up at the wrong time. Also, the only way to view the pic i.d. on the inside is to have the call answer option set to "press any key" other wise, it will pop up for a split second if you have it on answer on flip open mode.
