Nokia 6255i / 6256i
External Antenna?
Why change that? Is it really that difficult to make an internal antenna?
Side-note: I have nothing against external antennas, I have an e315 and e317, and I don't have too many problems with the antenna.

Okay... Haven't all their recent models, and models from like 3 years ago been internal antenna models?

Every phone you buy today has an interal antenna.
The external is just to make the signal better so the Nokia 6255i has both internal and external antennas.
The only other Nokia I can remember that had an antenna (a wire one you pulled out from the candybar design) had semi-transparent sides and was extremely cheap (Alltel and Verizon sold it). A lot of manufacturers use external antennas and it just seemed Nokia was some sort of exception. Their phones seem to get great reception too.
This rep also stated that antenna down or antenna out, the reception is the same. If it is not locked in or out, that is when the reception can be negatively effected. I myself have seen my reception go up 1 bar on CDMA Nokia phones when I pull the antenna out.
Personally, when I hear external antenna I think of one that sits on top of your car and plug...

One thing, aren't those external antennas more for car phones? I haven't seen any phone that you plug another antenna/extension into to improve the signal.
You must use GSM?
