Overly sensitive microphone?
It seems like the phone picks up a tremendous if not overwhelming amount of background noise. Is this normal or...?

What exactly do you mean?-are you hearing lots of static or is the other party that your talking to hearing everything in the background?

Yes indeed, the T637 has an overly sensitive microphone.
People I call assume that I'm in a crowded bar when I call them, even if I'm in a quiet cafe. When I first got my phone, I guessed that I had a defective model, so I got a replacement. Same problem in the replacement, though. It's so bad that the phone doesn't understand voice commands in my car.
Sony-Ericsson got all the ancillary features right (camera, games, display, toys, etc.), but didn't get the basics right. I just want to dial and have people understand me. I'm going back to my old Nokia.
BTW, I get about 1-1/2 days of battery time, with no talking. That's because (1) I leave Bluetooth on, and (2) the phone has to use a lot of energy to contact the network from my ...

Interesting-I love mine actually and never paid any attention to oversensitivety. I do remember once while in my office I got a call on the company phone while I was on my cell and I didn't put the cellphone person on hold and they could hear the entire conversation because I had the speaker phone on my company phone. I've never had a problem with voice-dialing I always use my headset. The only major quirk I have is I bought a Jabra BT250 and I get the "WORST" reception when talking-its like the person is gargling and they say I sound like I'm in a chamber because of this horrific echo they hear. I tried using the Jabra on a co-workers Moto V600 and it was clear as a bell, no echo nor static. I'm sending the headset back to Jabra though. Oth...
