Unlocking AT&T T637

I have a T-637 that I bought when I signed up for AT&T with the understanding that it would be able to accept other SIM cards overseas...obviously it's locked and that's not the case. What is the best solution for unlocking this bad boy? Is there a simple code I need to type in or is it much more complicated? I tried calling AT&T and Sony Ericsson themselves to no avail. Thanks for the help!

How to get text messages off the phone?

I've connected the phone via bluetooth to my mac, but only sounds, pictures, and themes are available. How can I download and save the text messages on my phone? I'm of the Gmail philosophy that I shouldn't have to delete anything.

failure to recognize sim card

I have a AT&T Sony Ericsson's T637 (locked) that has malfunctioned and does not recognize the AT&T
sim card. I have some files stored on the phone's internal memory (2MB, shared memory) and I am trying to find out how I could access these audio files.

voice control

I have had my T637 for almost 3 years. I like it very much and it has been very reliable.

However, I have decided now that I want to use the voice control features. I cannot make the on switch for voice dialing, voice redial, or voice answer stay on. Going through the menu I choose on and enter. The indicator states it is on. When you save it and exit out it goes back to the off position. The voice recorder works normal. I have downloaded the manual (99 pages) but have not found anything that helps.

Thanks for your help.

Removing T637 antenna cover and faceplate

Okay, many years late, but maybe still useful.

The T616 was simple, just push up on the antenna cover. On the T637, you have to pop the silver plastic ring around the camera lens off first, then the antenna cover pushes up just like the T616.

Here's a link to a blog with details:

616 or 637

If someone already has a T616 would it be worth upgrading to a T637? Thanks

"Pause" or "delay" dialing feature

Does anyone know of any way to dial a number and then pause or delay before continuing the dialing stream? Or is this just incompatible with the way the networks do the dialing now? (Used to be able to do this on older network, MCI World com.)

bluetooth headsets

Just so everyone knows, I used to have the hs801 bluetooth headset from motorolla, it broke and motorolla sent me the hs820, It was worlds different. It holds the connection now, even after the call has ended. Voice dialing works, everything is dreamy. Motorolla was also very nice to deal with. I think I even heard harps playing when I opened the box...

T637 Better Than I Ever Thought

I just have to say that after using this phone for almost a solid week, it has been one of the best mobile phones I have ever used.

GREAT reception, good call clarity, great phone functions/features, decent battery life, bluetooth, great screen, decent camera for a phone...

I really love this phone! And there has never been a Sony Ericsson that I liked. Anyhow, just wanted to voice my final opinion on this phone.

Also, I am out of town on business right now and I must say, even traveling I always got awesome reception!

over in the "Sony Ericsson Launches 2004 Portfolio" discussion:

whatever

I'm still waiting for their 2003 line of phones to show up in the US. I've been waiting for the T630 or Z600 or Z200 for many months. I finally got the T610 which is outdated, but only because Motorola couldn't deliver on the V600.

I'll believe Q2 or whatever when I see it.

Can an AT&T T637 be unlocked and used in UK

Hey. I got a T637 from a friend in states and I want to use i with my T-mobile sim in London. When i put in the sim it says no network. Tried all the sims but keeps on getting the same message. So it must be locked to At&T network only. My question is that can I unlock it and use it here in UK or can it be only used in states. And for unlocking shall I buy a terminator dongle. Is there any other way of unlocking it .. a bit cheaper way that is.

Why can't they make a phone like this in a CLAMSHELL design?

From everything I have read & heard about this phone it is a very good phone with a great list of features. 🙂

My questions is this: Why can't *anyone* make a phone like this in a clamshell design that does what it is supposed to & works well...??? ☚ī¸

AT&T Mmode Button

Have had the T637 for over a week now -- best phone I've ever had. One problem -- AT&T (my service provider) has changed the right soft menu button on the phone to an 'Mmode' button. I believe the normal state of this button when a carrier isn't involved is 'More' -- so it yields other options.

I rarely use Mmode (slow as death), and want to get it off my main screen. Does anyone know how to change/hack the setting to get it back to its default state?

Thanks,

mMode button

Does anybody know how to reprogram the mmode button to another menu item?? More specifically, instead of the mmode button that's above the "C" key, i would like to have the same menu that was in T616 phone.

I appreciate any help.

Unlocking question

Hi,
I'm thiniking about getting a dongle for my t637 to bring it back to where SE intended it to be, but had a question. I read somewhere on a board here that by unlocking it, I'll lose one of the frequency bands. I don't really beleive this, but don't want to mess with an already spotty signal if it's true.
Help?
