Aren't they supposed to be using each other's networks now?

i've read on howardforums about SIM locks preventing manual network views and selection. this appears to be a Cingular issue and my guess is that they wish to retain this service control for themselves.

in truth, that's not a big deal, and it is somewhat reasonable for a carrier to do this. the conflict arises when considering the shared network and roaming agreements Cingular has with T-Mobile and ATTWS.

not every market has a roaming agreement, but from what i have seen, those markets that do not are in areas where this option becomes crucial.

you could attempt a call to Cingular customer Care or Tech Support, but it is unlikely that they will "unlock" your SIM for manual network selection.

I have also heard ATT can use Cingular networks now. but the reverse cannot happen until the close of the sale of ATT. Pre exixting agreements stand though.
