Is there any difference between the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools and Verion's Mobile Office? Do either work with the V710 yet? I assume both allow for dial up connectivity from laptop and phonebook back up. Do either allow for the transfer of pictures and MP3s to/from the Phone and PC??

Sponge,
In your first reply to this thread "yes, nope..." you clearly indicate a difference between MPT and VMO. Would you please outline the specific differences and pros/cons. Thanks.

I have both and was never able to get Motorola Mobile Phone Tools to work via cable. The Motorola customer service is in India and they are very hard to contact (I waited for over 3 hours one day on hold) and they speak very little English.

Verizon on the other hand has great customer service. Their software to allow the phone to operate as a modem with my laptop worked perfectly.

Verizon's phone book management software does NOT work in my case but I have never taken the time to try and solve the problem. It only reads about 1/4 of the numbers entered in my phone.

I originally purchased the Motorola software and the bluetooth adapter so I could use bluetooth to access my phone from my laptop. That was in the days when the phone...

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. I have read many have successfully sync'ed Outlook contacts and calendar with MPT (v2.21f). Are you saying VZW Mobile Office will do this or no?

I will not use as modem, only for PC Sync. Is one better than the other?

MPT v2.21f DOES work with the v710 and the Motorla USB Cable. It IS able to sync Outlook contact and calendar info. It DOES NOT permit file transfer (i.e. pictures, mp3, etc.) of any kind.

It can be a little bit flakey to set up. It is important that the Motorola USB Modem driver be installed and working properly for MPT to function (this is the first part of the install process, but sometimes it seems to get confused). However, once it is set up, it seems to work fine.

GREAT - I just received MPT and updated it. It didn't install - I wasted an hour fiddling with the lousy Motorola cable. It synchronized calendar and contacts nicely.

But not being able to move MP3's this way is UNFORGIVEABLE.

How am I supposed to get videos and pics off my phone? How am I supposed to use the MP3 player?

ARGGGGH!

Are you seriously going to use the phone to play MP3s with a lousy 10 Mb of memory? AND take photos and videos?!?

C'mon -- You need to buy a Transflash card, anyway to do all this. You will be MUCH happier tranferring files using that card (and get a USB2 reader -- it will take seconds to transfer all the files you want...)

Motorola (and Verizo...

I am still hoping someone experienced with both MPT and VMO will respond and describe the differences/similarities and pros/cons of each. I am trying to decide which one to purchase.

So far, my research indicates that MPT will sync with Outlook. You must run live update after installing software. You may have to run the live update several times until you have version 2.21f. Posts also indicate you must manually load the driver for the V710. One post indicated the following procedure: "2- Update the USB driver. Go to your device manager and update the USB driver (you might see it as a big "?" in the list... Do a manual search for the driver -- You will find it here: \program files\mobile PhoneTools\inf " I cannot promise that will wo...

Good to see that VZW mobile office works with the V710. Finally, some good compatibility news...

1 Question: Can bluetooth be used in conjunction with VZW mobile office (creating a bluetooth modem)?

Thanks 😎

Are you using Verizon Mobile Office instead of phone tools. Does it do the same things with Outlook and where did you get it / download it? Thanks.
