If you are still within your 15 days, you can return a phone for any reason, whether it's defective or not.

yes, you can. you can return & exchange for any reason within your first couple weeks. in fact, i considered it today... but when they showed me the new one, i realized the screen wasn't as bright (even at same settings) and the volume was noticably lower in earpiece at vol # 7. so i kept my original one.

VERY funny that you say this bostonphone... I found EXACTLY the same thing (but the other way around). I returned my ORIGINAL v710 because the mic and speaker would decide to stop working at times (thus allowing me to answer call - but not hear anything, nor have the other person hear me). When I returned the phone and got the new one- I noticed the new one wasn't NEARLY as loud ...

I guess I have a super-loud one because mine is louder than my old v120e. I was actually impressed with the earpiece volume. I could hear people over my screaming mother 🙂 .

I'm Jealous!!!!

I had to go through THREE phones to get the one I have now... which is better than the first two - but still not loud enough.

My earpiece volume is always on "7" - and I find my self always hitting the "up" button to try to increase it as I walk around Manhattan trying to hear people on the other end.

If you look on

and follow the Opt Codes, you can make it even LOUDER. I made mine a little bit louder doing that, but it wasn't that much louder.

You know what, this is reason everyone is complaining about this phone. Everyone keeps exchanging their phones at least 3 times over and the stores just resell them saying they're "new". It's not the phone is crappy it's just that there are a lot of broken phones being shuffled around.

according to the stores they CAN NOT re-sell those phones. They go back to the factory to get a work over.

People are way to picky when it comes to this stuff. I still don't understand why people continue to complain about how horrible the 710 is - just get a different brand phone. you will be happier.

Not true - they cannot re-sell a returned phone.
Now- what they can do is send it to be evaluated - and THEN re-sell it.

But - they can't sell a phone that's been taken back to the store.

Besides - I've been very careful to make sure the ones I got were brand new (even though 2 of them didn't work properly)

don't worry, VZW knows about us "anal" v710 owners. 😛 The few stores around me have been exchanging them for cosmetic reasons so they told me. They can't refuse you if you are within the 15 days.
