Scratches On The Screen...

BigHill525

Anyone notice scatches (or marks that don't seem to come off) on the main screen that aprear to be caused by the number keys/buttons? I'm really confused about how & why they're getting there because the keys are smooth and rounded. Thanks for any thoughts on the matter.

I have been using screen protectors and they work great. I cut about 1/16th of an inch off the bottom and apply it. I can't tell that it's there at all.

I have the same problem. I can definitely see marks on my display when the phone is off, and the marks clearly coincide with the with centers (and most raised portion) of the 1,3,4,6,7,9, and OK keys. The center keys (2,5,8, and 0) don't seem to touch. I tried the screen protector, but it looked terrible. Maybe I don't know how to install it correctly, but I decided that there must be a better way to protect the display screen.

After some experimenting, I think I found it. The problem here seems to stem from the fact that the little grey rubber bumpers at the lower corners of the keyboard are not quite thick enough to keep the display from hitting the keys - particularly when the phone is closed hard. I pried the little bumpers out...

I don't think the Problem here is the spacers. The Spacers work fine...The problem is the keypad. If you hold your phone so you are looking at the botton, and the you just can't see the keypad (in other words, perfectly perpendicular), and squeeze the phone lightly from the side (only the dark grey part), you'll see that the keypad moves. This is what I think is causing the scratches.

Does anyone out there actually have a V710 that they've used for a few days that does not have the key-impact marks on the screen? blockquote>

Keep it in the leather case and you don't get the scratches. (yea I know, I learned that one too late too) I think the scratching on the screen was a known problem because it got fixed along with the crooked cameras.

I had the same problem with the scratches on the screen when I first got the phone. Verizon said that if they bothered me too much that they would give me another one. So after I played with it for a few days I returned it and got a brand new one at no additional cost. However you must be within the 15 day return policy.

TONS of people exchange their phones for comsmetic reasons. If you are in your 15 day period just do it. My friend who use to work for a VZW retail store as a so called fake tech 🤣 told me it happens ALL THE TIME. They know there is nothing wrong with the phone and that its only cosmetic damage - but they still have to honor your request he told me. Just don't do it more than 3 times as he said the third time exchanging a brand new cell brings up their red flag on your acct.?

Is there really any reason to exchange the phone for another one if they all have buttons that scratch the screen? Does anyone out there have a V710 that closes without the buttons touching? I've got 6 days left to return this phone so, if there are V710's out there that actually close properly, I'll exchange mine.

At the very least buy some PDA screen protectors and cut them down to fit your screen. I spent the 20$ for the leather (lambskin) case and that protects both just fine. If I find a better case more to my liking in the future as more are designed, then I'll look at the 24$ as insurance.

Complaints on the screen scratches showed up within 2 days after this phone first became avalable at Radio Shack in late July/early August (whenever it was)

I don't think the buttons touch my screen. I got the first one from my local VZW store and it is still in pristine shape. I carry it and a Trashmobile (T-mobile) phone all day. I do close the cover when I'm done and don't slam it shut like a TV cop checking his revolver. Not that anyone here is, maybe I'm just lucky. It feels like it touches those 2 little rubber pads on the bottom of the keypad first, at least on mine.

mine has no scratches so i'm not sure what everyone is talking about. for ha-ha's i called VZW store and asked them about it and you know what the guy said? "Sir, get a life as we would NEVER exchange a phone because of scratches on the screen. Its normal wear and tear." I asked for the store manager and the freaking guy hung up on me!!!!!!! 👿

Such great CS huh...

I replaced my v710 with a brand new one today (within 15 day limit). I had my rep leave the factory screen protector on, so I could go home and put on a generic Radio Shack screen protector. To the above poster, you just cut it to size. 🙄

I will tell you all one answer to this problem. It is....... to use....... the..... belt holster!!! EXACTLY! it works!!! the holster raises the flip away from the rest of the phone when closed due to the design of the holster. If some do not wish to use the holster, then this solution is not for you. I on the other hand am willing too if that's what it takes. 🙂

I am thinking about exchanging mine b/c of the scratches on the display and the keypad seems to me a little loose. I am still within the 14 days so they shouldn't give me any problems, correct?
