SERIOUS BUG!! Battery warning BEEPS even when in vibrate or silent mode!

bostonphone

I hope this is just a bug that will be fixed with the flash update. I was in a conference today and my phone started beeping... even though it was in vibrate only mode. I even tested it in silent mode... same thing. Battery low warning still makes audible beeping noise. This is a very stupid design and should be fixed by Motorola!!

Also, not to mention I was very disappointed by battery life today... it did not last nearly as long as it should. My a530 almost NEVER ran out of batter, but this did by 5pm today with only an hour or two of talking. Did not even use camera or BT during day either.

Had the same problem. The thing is each ring level (Loud, Soft, Vibrate, Silent, etc.) has it's own setting. You have to go through each one and specify what you want to happen in that mode. Yo get there by going to Main Menu...settings...Ring Styles.

I have never had that issue with any other unit I have owned, but do sort of like it.

Try under ring styles, detail, reminders, set to vibrate instead of beep....that should do it

My reminders ARE set to vibrate. Reminders are in reference to a reoccurring 'beep' that you can get for times when you forget to check your phone and there are missed calls or missed message. Reminders do NOT refer to low battery warning. There is NO setting in the ringer styles relating to the low battery warning. This is ridiculous!

Same thing happened with my v60 and my v120. I don't think it's a bug.

Well, what's more important?... having a dead battery because you couldn't hear the low battery alarm (if you could turn it off) or having it beep annoyingly so until you put the dang thing on the charger? I say it's worse to have an unknown dead battery but hey, that's just me, your mileage may vary ...but this is not a bug and was seemlingly designed this way by moto...

Why would you want to hear beep if battery is going to die anyway. Bad thinking Motorola.

"Why would you want to hear beep if battery is going to die anyway. Bad thinking Motorola."

umm, to tell you your battery is low and needs recharging... seems simple and very logical to me and without the beep, many people would have dead batteries without their knowlege and possibly miss important phone calls... this is not rocket science and most phones have an audio indicator when the battery is low

If you have the phone set to VIBRATE then you are either in a situation that is quiet and you don't want anyone to hear your phone. OR, you are in a situation that is loud and you won't hear it beep, so you want to 'feel' it. If first scenario is true... then this warning beep would come as a surprise and could be a big annoyance in a quiet setting. If second situation is true, then what's the point of the beep??? You wouldn't even know your battery is running out! If set to VIBRATE or silent, then phone should not beep, PERIOD. Bad decision on motorola's part and poorly thought out.

bostonphone is exactly right. I goto a business meeting, put my phone on vibrate and then the low battery warning goes off. It shouldn't beep at all but if it does, at least allow me to make it stop. And for those that are going to say "turn off your phone during the meeting". That's not an option if you're expecting an important call. It's very annoying and distracting when the beep is going off at regular intervals.

The problem is, Motorola hasn't made a higher end phone for a very long time. When you make cheap, bottom of the market phones, they won't be used by people who attend a lot of meetings to begin with.

Options. Give people options you stupid radio-makers.

I needed a new phone. Bluetooth has already been very helpful. I could care about the camera, and the PhoneBook layout sucks.

Bah.

Its the most annoying feature. and its not a bug. My v60 had it, so I wasn't suprised to see it again. Difference now is, the phone ringer on this phone is so much louder than the v60, that people literally look around and ask, "what was that?!".

Like it or not, there's enough debate as to whether its a good feature to have or not, such that they clearly SHOULD HAVE MADE IT A SETUP OPTION. I for one, would have selected 'if my phone is in Loud mode, then beep, if in Vibrate, then don't but the sh*t out of me every 5 mins."

- Nuff Said.

not a bug, its just the way they programmed it. My previous two Motos did the EXACT same thing. v60 & T710. If you don't like it then i guess return it asap and get a LG 7000 or something.

I agree. It's a serious flaw. If you're away from a charger, you're only option is to turn it off and start missing calls. Even though it's about to die anyway, I'd rather be able to receive calls for as long as possible. The battery life is pathetic enough to being with.
