Ok, with the phone closed, i understand how to change between the ring styles (vibrate, loud, soft, etc.) and I understand that i can setup the 'settings' for each of these styles in the menu somewhere. But how does this relate to changing the ringer volume with the volume keys when the phone is open? Does that OVER RIDE the ring style? If I select the SOFT ring style but use volume keys with phone open to select '7'... which one is accurate? Why is it setup this way... seems ridiculous? My Samsung was much easier to understand.

Can anyone properly explain the relationship between these two seeminly similar functions? Thanks.

When you change the volume while the phone is open, it changes the ringer volume for your current style. That way, you can save all your other settings and just tweak the volume "on the fly" if you walk into a loud or quiet place. 😉

I think it's rather convenient, but if it's so easy to do, I don't see a need for the soft setting, unless you want different rings.

Hope that clears it up.
