Verizon Early Renewal Discount?

voxel5000

Aug 6, 2004, 4:28 PM
i just got off the phone with verizon customer service about getting a discount on the new v710..the woman told me that since my plan is more than 59.99 i am eligible to receive an early renewal discount on a new phone..she said instead of paying the retail price for the v710, i can pay the new 2 yr contract price offered to new customers..is this correct? can anyone confirm this?

What the CSR meant, is that currently you do not qualify for an upgrade price, since your plan is at $59.99 Verizon will let you do an upgrade earlier than the actual date. My recommendation is to always have the CSR note your account that you qualify for the upgrade now.

kon15, i recall her mentioning something about me extending my contract when i get the upgrade..she suggested i wait until feb. when my NE2 is valid and i receive $100 off..however, i don't want to wait that long and would be happy to forfeit the NE2 discount if i can get the phone at the new customer price (if that's how it works)...so let's see if i have this right..i can renew my contract early b/c i have the 59.99 plan, and i get the new customer discount on the v710? ps, thanks for your help so far, this stuff gets kinda confusing

You got it correct. If you don't mind missing out on the NE2 discount you can get an early upgrade right now. That is you would pay the same $319.99 price as a new customer and would get the $70 rebate.
Hope that helps,
Kon

Did u renew ur contract this june? If u did, u aren't eligible for the discount. The discount is used for early upgrades or new contracts.

For the early upgrade, you need to be 1 year into a 2 year contract, be on a $59.99 or higher plan (or switch to one) & re-sign for 2 more years.

I'm a VZW Sales Rep at a corporate store, just checked the M&P for early upgrades, it is $59.99 per month, not $49.99.

U may be a rep but I got the early upgrade by switching to the 49.99.

U don't need to have 59.99 plan to have the early upgrade. Before upgrading my contract, i had my plan at 39.99 and i only had to upgrade my plan to 49.99 to be eligible for the promotional discount.
