This phone was hyped up way to much. There is no where near a 1.2 mega pixel. i have tried every resolution setting and mode when indoors, its horrible. and the flash is even more crap. its useless. the pics are great outdoors and absolutly horrible indoors, for those who dont agree, your just lieing to yourself so you feel you didnt get ripped off. and another thing, the external Picture caller-ID is the cheapest, cheesiest and corniest thing i have ever seen. this phone sucks! way way to much hype was put into this phone, i believe 275+ pages of hyped up garbage.

That page was posted by npitlor and i actually think those photos are good for a PHONE (taken at high-res.) Remember, this is a phone and not a camera, like ppl said before, i bet your camera can't make as good calls as your phone. 😁

I think you just had higher expectations than you hould have had. I didn't expect much, and if your that pissed about the camera go get a v60 and a digi cam.

I agree with most people. This is not a digital camera, its a phone. The only major complaint I have heard about with the "phone" portion of the phone is that the earpiece is a little too soft. But otherwise, I hear good things. Your digital camera should not (atleast not yet) be your phone. Its for convience, not quality. So please, stop complaining about the *HORRIBLE* pic quality and get over it. Ya hate it, return it, ya love it, then keep it.

I agree with "moneybags" on the camera. It was way too hyped. People that think the pictures are good are people that have obviously never owned a camera phone or seen other good cam phones. The pictures are good outside but indoor it is just horrible. It doesn't make sense being motorola's V600 takes way better pictures indoor and outdoor. I was really looking forward to recording and taking decent pictures inside my own home, at parties, clubs and etc. All my friends that have Sprint Camera phones can do that stuff and it's really cool and fun. Besides the Camera though it's awesome. I absolutely love it, but at the same time the more I try using my cam and camcorder the more that LG 7000 is looking better.

1. "Megapixel" refers only to image resolution/size, not quality. Just because it's megapixel, doesn't mean it's better quality than VGA. Megapixel only means that you should see more detail than VGA, if you scale both photos to the same size.

Bottom line: if the photos are 1280 x 960 pixels in size, then they are 1.2 megapixels, regardless of the quality.

2. At this point in time, you simply can't expect any kind of camera phone, no matter how high-end, to even come close to the quality of the very cheapest standalone digital camera. The technology just isn't there yet.

The point of a camera phone is not to replace a digital camera. It is so you can capture those photos you would otherwise miss because you don't have your camera on...

I agree with everything you said! This phone's bad reviews are mostly about bluetooth and the camera. And there are less than 1 page of bad reviews and about 3 pages of great reviews. And i've heard from ALOT of ppl that this phone is the best at doing it's job, to make clear calls. I've seen many reviews saying "GREAT reception!, picked up a signal where my old phone didn't." So your absolutely right, Rich Brome! 😁

I have to agree with moneybags, everyone is trying to justify why its ok to forgive motorola for having a crappy cammera, at the price the phone sells for, it should take better pics than current camera phones which have been out over a year - i never used an lg or samsung camera phone but they got to be better - most of the pics posted were outdoors, indoors the pics are just a blur at highest setting with light manual adjusted to indoors

I wonder how the SonyEricsson S700's GSM phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera (coming out Q4) will compare to this Motorola v710 around Xmas time.

At least I can always sell this phone off on eBay and get something back if I switch back to Cingular for that phone and cancel the 1yr contract. At least their quality should be phenominal as Sony does a great job with most of its products.

Also, can anyone take a movie capture over 15 seconds? Or is the only way to exceed that amount would be to use a TransFlash card? If the TransFlash is not needed, please provide explicit directions how to do it without it. Thanks.

I just bought the Jabra 250 and I'm being told by people on the other end of the call that I sound "muffled." Is this common? If so, is there a solution?

I also am not pleased with this phone. The two major selling features were bluetooth and the 1.2 mega pixel camera. When these two items do not work as advertised, this turns into another ordinary phone. I also have a Samsung i600 which works flawlessly, but I really want bluetooth connectivity. I have tried to fall in love with the V710, but the only thing I really like is the bluetooth earpiece. I will probably return this phone before my 15 day trial because of the two items mentioned above plus Motorola's continued use of Itap instead of T9 and their quirky, multiple-listing phone book. I have had three other Motorola phones in the past, but it looks like I have become more satisfied with the build quality and functionality of LG a...

i guess its just a matter of opinion. i had a samsung and couldn't wait to go back to a moto.you talked about the quirky phone book, but i really like moto's phone book compared to the samsung one. the samsung phone book was very limited on the # of characters you could put in the entry.most i had to abbreviate.

What annoys the hell out of me are those of you who say "if you want a camera go buy a camera"

Guess what? This IS a camera and a phone. And when the marketing bullshit makes a big deal out of "1.2 megapixel" etc etc, then you expect the **** to work.

The pictures are out of focus and suck in anything other than bright light.

The camera is TWISTED so that the image is tilted? What kind of crap is that?

I love the phone, but I'm also extremely dissapointed in some of the things I paid a LOT of money to get, like the camera and bluetooth. They need to fix this stuff or recall the phones. Anything else is a slap on the face of the consumer.

Agreed!!! Its a good phone, not great. Whats up with the Motorola V600?! You can actually use the speakerphoen with it CLOSED even though the microphone is INSIDE the phone!! I tested this with my friend's v600 side by side. And once youre on a call and you close it, it won't disconnect the call when talking. So what's Motorola's excuse for not making the v710 at least up to par with the v710?! And the NONE swivel base? They aren't even selling a basic one that swivels, just one with a leather case. I think if the LG Vx8000 or whatever that uses CCD comes out in the next 15 days, I'm switching this phone in for the other one! Or maybe sell it on eBay and pay the different. WTF

I have a feeling a lot are going to be sold on Ebay. The problem with the VX8000 is that I doubt it will be out in the next 30 days. Another issue is a method for transferring pics and mp3s without paying Verizon each time.

I'll give the V710 an "A" for features but a "D" for quality.
