Bluetooth Headset HS810 vs. HS820

Silver TT

Aug 2, 2004, 12:42 PM
I think we all agree Bluetooth is one of the major motivations to get this phone. So being that the headset is a critical component here, which one is better?

I bought the HS810 somewhat by accident b/c I didn't see the HS820 advertised at the time and couldn't see any meaningful differences. But since then I have seen different battery lifes posted, different ways to turn on/off, different accessories, etc.

Anyone who has had both or at least tried both, can you tell me if I should return the HS810 and get the 20?

Thanks,

Dan

After using the original version of the HS810 for the last two years, I would say it depends on how you plan on using it. Do you want to keep it on your ear all the time, or do only want it on the ear when you are in a call? The HS810 works for people who want the latter, because when you open the boom mic, it powers on, makes the bluetooth connection, and answers the call. With the HS820, you would need to press and hold the power on button each time you wanted it to go on and off, so it would be better suited for people that want to turn it on, put it on their ear, and leave it there for a period of time.

How is the sound quality comparison with the 2? Does the boom mic eliminate more background noise and pick up the user's voice better while outside?

Unfortunately, I do not have either one to test with yet. I was making observation based on my experience with the original Moto headset, the 66466 (predates the HS800).
