I had an experience and last night and I was wondering if anyone could provide any insight?

I purchased the V710 at RadioShack. I asked for the insurance. I went to the VZW store next door to make sure it was added. He said no but that he could add it if I had the receipt. I showed him the receipt and he was about to add it and a coworker stopped him and told him that since it was purchased at RadioShack, VZW wont cover it.

I then called 611 and asked them to add it. And they said I was all set.

Who was right?

611 was, the store was just pissed because you didn't get the phone from them. Sprint is an authorized resellr of verizons services, and the phones come from verizon to its resellers. Hell, you can buy a phone on ebay and still get the insurance, as long it is a unit supplied by verizon in the first place.

I am a customer service rep. in Laurel, MD and I get calls similar to the problem you just ran into. I always suggest to buy a phone directly from a VZW store because the cons RS has brought to our customers. What state and county do you live in? What is the area code and the the first 3 digits of your mobile #. I have an insurance list and can look up what insurance company's service your area. I just spoke to a lead (almost supervisor) about your issue and she adv. me that YES, WE CAN ADD INSURANCE TO THE PHONE AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ARE WITHIN THE 7 DAYS AND THAT WE AS CSR'S SET OURSELVES A FOLLOW-UP TO CALL ASURION ONCE WE RELEASE THE PHONE ON THE 11TH. Thank you for your help. I live in MA, Middlesex Country. My mobile is 508-728. I ended up getting the insurance added when I called *611. Is there a way I can confirm it was added? I just want to make sure.

Not sure if this will work. Try checking your account on Verizon website. If you can't find it there, double check with *611 Monday after 9AM (wait until then to be sure their system has updated).
