Was there this much anticipation for the T720?

Just wondering if the T720 had this much following. I found out and bought it a few months after the release and before I saw everyone and there kids had one. At least after launch I know the T720 was slow to catch on. Any one that knows thanks for the info.

don't think so... but then again, it was the 1st color screen phone for verizon and didn't cost nearly as much at the outset as the 710 will. 710 will have huge demand, but not at least initially from the "average" customer.

Not to be a smart ass but the Sharp Z-800 was VZW 1st color phone but it sucked.

Yup, it only had 256 color. The next one was the T720 with 4K and CDM9500 with 65K.

No it wasn't the first but it was the first affordable color phone from Verizon. That Sharp Z800 started off at like $400 or something ridiculous like that.

I actually got the T720 when it first came out, in fact it was 2 years ago since I will be using my NewEver2 benefit for the V710, but I remember the price being about 299 with a rebate that brought the price down by $199. I remember about 30 days later a new promotional price of $99 was advertised (after certain discounts and rebates). I was not happy about this and called VZW several times because as an "early adopter" of technology I got screwed. I complained enough and they gave me a $100 credit.

I remember monitoring the price of the T720 from November through January when I bought it. It bottomed out right before Christmas when it was $49 after rebate (with a 2 year agreement). It was $79 after rebate (with a 2 year agreement) when I bought it at the end of January, 2003. I paid $109 because I only signed a 1 year agreement. Yes, at that time it was only $30 more with a 1 year agreement.

The Sharp Z800 never really went down in price all that much until the other color phones started comign out. I don't think Verizon was able to give that phone away after the others came out.
