Insurance for PHOne

I've been paying 4.95/month for whatever they call the insurance...loss, stolen, etc on my 270c.. I rarely take out any extended service policies, etc. Is it worth it on a phone like this?
Have anyone here actually lost their phone and had to get a new one w/or w/out the ins?

If you lose the phone I assume you have to pay full price..eg. 400.00. yet, paying 180.00 over three years is a lot of insurance

I have Asurion Insurance as well as a friend of mine. He lost his phone and they 1st required him that a Police report had to be done. He somehow talked them into getting a replacement without the Police report but not the norm per policy. My phone 2 weeks was in my shorts pocket, like a dumbass I left it in my pocket while getting a boat on the trailing while shorts were under water. I called Asurion and I got my replacement phone the very next day. The sad thing is it took them 3 phones to get me one that worked correctly. The 1st 2 were refurbished and the 3rd one was new. Both myself and my buddy had to pay a $50 deductable.
My bet if you lost it without Insurance you would have to pay full price.
Hope this helps answer your questions...

thanks tlo. I'll probably get it...I've "lost" the phone many times, but always "found" it again... I hate when you pay for insurance, have a legitimate claim and they hassle you...at least you eventually got a replacement

Most "E.S.P.'s" are a rip off....like I'm gonna buy a DVD player for 200.00 and spend $50.00 to insure it.... But I do insure all my photo equipment which I lug around the country...and w/the phone..better be safe then sorry.

I believe Motorola has a 1 yr warranty on it. SO if it breaks (not physical damage) you should be ok. And if after a year it breaks, buy a replacement on ebay for cheap. Over 2 years, it should all be less money than 24 times $5 = $120 plus dont forget the $50 claim cost totaling $170. And chances are you will probably never have a problem anyway.

I'm gonna continue my insuance. It came in handy with my V60i. After owning it for 1 1/2 years, the inside and outside screens just crapped out. Asurion sent me a new (or probably refurbished) phone and I got it the next day. Well 2 days after I got my replacement, the inside and outside screens crapped out of my replacement phone! Asurion sent me yet another phone which has been solid ever since. I'm going to donate it to my mom when I upgrade since the v60i is only a few months old!

Well, about the refurbished merch, I just know that when it comes to desktop and server parts, replacements are refurbished units more often than not. I know this may or may not have anything to do with Asurion, or their replacement units, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Personally I'm a proponent of the insurance. I had a Startac fall into the pool once before I had insurance and it was going to cost about $250.00 to replace, fortunately I was 1 month shy on m renew every 2 so I just waited. I've carried the insurance ever since and a good thing because M v60c went in the toilet off of my belt clip. That was goint to cost about $180.00. What I did learn though is to tell them it went in the water. If it's just broke they want you to send it in so they can scanenge parts. If it goes in the water they think it's fried so they just send a replacement. Mine was upgraded to a v60i.

LMAO!!!!! This is a question I ask my self everytime I come across this type of accident. I'm a customer service rep. for VZW and I get calls with customers dropping their phones in toilets. I too, ask myself "HOW THE HELL SOOOOO MANY PEOPLE DO THIS" I guess it just one of the questions I'll keeps asking myself for life! FUNNY and SILLY 🤣

Actually it'a very easy to explain. It's the lousy belt clips they give and sell. On my StarTac I bent over to check pool chemicals and the phone popped right out of the clip. After that I made sure I had a good belt clip for my V60C but the spring broke after a yearor so and I was using the one that came with the phone temporarily. I took a dump, stood up to button my pants and the belt clip and phone came off my belt and into the toilet. What can I say S**t happens. This was over about a 5 or 6 year period.

LOL! It kinda makes poetic sense for a piece of "crap" like the 720!

There's no doubt that someone like RDW would want insurance -- It sounds like RDW is a "master of disaster" when it comes to phones (no offense, there -- but the untimely drowning of TWO cell phones?!?)

I forgot to add.... If you drop your V710 in the water within the first few months before the price comes down, it's going to cost $520 to replace it!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell, one less pitcher of beer a month and your insurance is more than covered.

I'm a claims rep for Signal, and I can tell you I get at least 5 claims a week where customers drop the phone in the toilet. I'm one rep out of around 800, so in a 1-week period, 4000 phones are dropped in toilets from just customers who have signal insurance.
