Ok, so one of my closest friends works for one of the largest Verizon retailers and actually got to speak to a Motorola rep. This is what he told me:

- There were no software issues with the v710 and that it has been working great.

- The release of the phone is delayed b/c Verizon JUST released the LG vx7000 and they do not release phones at the same time. They wanted to give it a week in between. If that makes any sense. ( To me I think it's retarded b/c Verizon knows that it's customers are PISSED and want this damn phone! )

- So, according to the Moto rep... Verizon told him that probably on Thursday, the 15th they will be ALLOWED to start releasing the phone. (Obviously if this changes I will let you all know)

LG release date issues is completely credible reason for delay. I can't tell you how many postings on this site say they plan to exchange LG7000 for MOT710. Think of Verizon's potential liability if people use 15 day period to exchange phones. Pretty sure Verizon has to sell returned phones as refurbished. It is a shame that MOT missed their end of June window... then this would have been less concerning to Verizon.

7000 release date was between 6/26 and 7/1... so don't expect 710 much before 7/15.(So that early adopters couln't swap.) Would be nice to know how many 7000s have been sold and when to estimate Verizon's risk.

I still say that Mot will push Verizon to get it out before 7/20 analyst meeting. If I'm Verizon... I'd be a...

My New Every Two two-month-before-contract-expires date is a week from today, so I've been scouring the net for reviews on the phones VW offers, and arrived here in the process. Earlier this week I spotted the VX7000 and went to the store to look it over. That one fits me in every way, except for the lack of a speakerphone. I was set on getting it until I discovered the V710. The only caveat I see with the Moto is that you can't use mp3s for ringtones. What's the chances that someone will find a way to do that?

Secondly, I called my local store this afternoon. The rep says it's still in "troubleshooting" and they normally get word of the release only 2 or 3 days beforehand. She took my cell# and assured me she would "try" to call me as so...

You are not the only freak waiting on it. I am switching service providers just to get this phone. It has me so excited and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
