V710 may not be all that

I've heard from some very good sources (aka my cell phone supplier) that lots of stores are seriously considering not carrying the V710 any time soon if at all because of software glitches that can't seem to be ironed out. They say it's like the roll out of the infamous V720 and everybody remembers what a piece of crap phone that was 🤭 . I'm putting my money else where for the time being (like a vx7000/8000)

If you buy the phone from a VZW corporate store there really is no risk. If the phone does not meet your expectations, take it back within 15 days. Why base your purchase on what someone else (who probably has not seen the phone with the final firmware installed anyway) says about the phone when you can evaluate it yourself?

Yes, that's true, but my supplier will give me 30 to try. I just got caught with the 720 that way and it seems all the Mot phones since have been POS's. I will probably fal for it and buy one when they come out, but don't say I didn't tell everybody if it sucks!

I picked up a T720 the day it was released and returned it 48 hours later. It was, indeed, a POS (at least initially). The two Startacs and the V60c that I used extensively before the 720 were excellent phones. I am hoping that Motorola has gotten it right the the V710, but if they haven't it will go right back to the Verizon store and I will wait for something else that piques my interest.

Glad you warned me that you will be back blasting everyone as suckers who buys this phone if and when yours MIGHT go bad.

Will you be back screaming Me Culpa, Me Culpa if it is a great phone? I think not.

Motorola doesn't know what the meaning of "final firmware" is. They'll come out with 3 or 4 even after the phone has been released and neither of them will have the bugs fixed that it was intended to fix. I'm sorry but Motorola has so many firmware versions it's hard to tell which is final and if it's beta. They go through a ton of firmware versions before they even fathom of a "final version" especially now that flashing is even easier with flashing via bluetooth.

No phone is going to be perfect. Not in its 1st firmware release -- not in its 100th release. Life isn't perfect and neither is technology.

So there's no real reason to get all stressed out about it. Everyone here has their own priorities and needs regarding the best phone for their use. The v710 may end up being great for some folks -- and seem like crap to others.

All we can do is check it out when it's released and go from there.

that's why anyone who's technologically savvy and has a motorola phone should find a copy of PST and learn...

As with anything, there are no such thing as final in firmware. Otherwise, it'll just be a ROM chip and not a rewritable rom. There are bugs in everything, nothing in life is perfect. Anything that is mass produced is usually quantity first and quantity second anyways. I mean unless it was hand made, it's not going to be perfect. Flashing via bluetooth won't be possible as the phone will be running at the base level only with nothing active.

SURE... the "stores" have no say on what they will carry or not. I can see it now...

Store manager to Corporate:"I don't want to carry X brand of phone"!

Corporate to store manger:"You are fired!"

Nuff said.
