Motorola V710
710's Phonebook - any changes from the v600
I had the v600 for a couple of weeks. The phonebook is a disaster! It's hard to describe; if you have 4 contacts for an individual, then their name shows up 4 times in the book. You get a few folks in your book, and suddenly it takes like 30 clicks to get to your buddy's office phone number!
Anyway, I know Motorola has to know this 'feature' stinks like hot garbage. Does anyone know if they've fixed this on the v710?

ummm, you can modify the phone book to only show a primary number for the person. Then once you highlight that person you can easily get to the other numbers.
...mebbe? if you could, it wasn't intuitive. i had the v600 for a few weeks, and couldn't figure it out...
that said, i was NOT trying to crack open the manual! F that, reading is for nerds! 😉
...but i'd pleasantly surprised if you could!
I didn't read a manual either. Took about 3 minutes in the setup menus to figure it out... 😁
I've no idea if the V710 phone book is similar though.
Only one name shows up in the display and you can use the left and right arrows to get to the other numbers associated with the given entry.
What stinks is that it is not a circular list. If you guess the wrong direction and go 2 numbers to the right, and it turns out the number you wanted was one click to the left, then you have to click 3 times to go back to the number on the left.
It should have been done as a circular list.

Hey, does anyone know if Motorola has updated their ($#@$-ed up) phonebook for this phone?

I too had the v600 for a few weeks and I agree with the other replies. Nothing to fix. While the v600 phonebook defaulted the way you described, it really wasn't too...

seriously, how you react when you know something that someone else doesn't says a LOT about the kind of person you are.
here's hoping you all have shiny new v710s on July 6th!
