Customer service told to dial *228 or something like that the automatically update my phone [better tower reception].Will this affect my Super Dave flash I did a while back??

Negative.
*228 only updates your PRL (Preferred Roaming List). Basically tells your phone which towers to talk to for the best reception. The SD flash you did upgrades the operating system of the phone, the *228 just updates a file.
