JULY RELEASE DATE FOR V710

BMR12345

Apr 28, 2004, 10:33 AM
Sorry guys and gals

Motorola is now giving a July release date for the phone. I spoke to 2 reps at Motorola sales who told me they were told that the phone will now be pushed to July with no definite date. She said no sooner than July and that once they get a more formal day they will be pushing back the promotion. She told me it definitely won't be out any sooner than July. Her supervisor told them all in a meeting to give this new time frame.

Sorry

I wasn't surprised. I mean the V810 was suppose to come out last christmas and still hasn't come out. They said April 21st and its the 28th and I see nothing on the shelves. Personally I think that phone is a lost cause. I'd check out other brands. Nokia has a cool phone coming out 3rd quarter. Probably will come out before the V710.
SUCKS!!

if i don't see or hear anything about a more definitive release date agreed upon and annouced, nationaly between motorola AND vzw then i think i'm just going to suck it up and give in and get a different phone, if there's something that sparks my interest which from what i have looked into there's not really anything, i want bluetooth, if not w/ verizon i'll switch carriers.

i'm long overdue for an upgrade and i can barely work with what i have anymore, i don't feel like chasing a pipedream for months more. good luck to the rest of ya.

DAM "THE MAN".. exactly..I'm sure there has to be other brands that are in the works for Bluetooth with verizon. Who knows?!? I hear Bluetooth is flawed anyways. Looks like a cool phone but Motorola wants to just string us along waiting.

July will turn into August.. then September.. then some kinda new technology will come out and they will just scrap these plans.

Yeah I bet they are waiting to see how many people register for that promotion and "notification of release" with the V710 to see when it makes sense to release the phone.

I gave up last week and got the Samsung which should be cool until this friggin V710 is launched. Taking advantage of the Internet deal and the mail-in rebate, my out of pocket is like $39.99.

One thing that I really hope is behind all of these delays is the finding of BUGS with these phones, V810 and V710. I am shocked to find out that some of the same annoying bugs that seem to have originated with the T720 have somehow made their way into the V600 (AT&T phone). I will be PISSED 😡 if I EVER get the "black screen of death" on another Motorola phone!

I am in agreement. I too am now in the market for a new phone and the first company that releases a good phone wins my contract. I have a feeling that I am not alone in this regard.

What about the Audiovox 9900 - is it coming out any sooner than the V710 and would it be a good phone?

I personally am leary about that phone. The big screen is has is nice, but once the novelty wears off you have to live with its drawbacks such as a phone that gets very warm, shorter battery life and a phone that is pretty, well, um, big. If you must have a video phone, there is that samsung that should be considered as well. Bottom line, if you are in a hurry for a nice new phone, and you are a Verizon customer, you are with the wrong company.

Seriously. This is just ridiculous. Moto management needs to learn to strategic planning and how not to piss off customers. I agree that they need to test and retest the phone...they gotta give themselves time, but tell people a "maximum" release date, then surprise them if you can release it sooner. Don't give optimistic, unrealistic timelines and piss people off when there is no way you can meet that date.
Motorola, you are horrible.

Whoever comes out with a megapixel phone first will get my money. Until then ... I'll stick with my perfectly working v60c.

Seriously, you could call all day and get different release dates. Until I see an actual date listed on the website or released publically, then I wouldn't get my hopes up for this phone. Which are usually bullshit anyways. By the way, that Nokia looks HOT and its slated to be released late 2004 which will probably be when the V710 will come out. I usually think of girly phones when it comes to Nokia but that picture changes my mind. HEHE

Real fact is that this is what Motorola is telling its customers. LOL.. how much more real do you want? Video conferencing with the technicians in their product development division?
