like i said before, unfortunately vzw has not made a phone like this one since. so id opt for the $25 credit, if that is true, which by the way is a joke. $25 but hey, anything to take money away from the giant that is verizon.

Hi,

I just bought a motorola 710 phone last weekend. Unfortunately (?) I am checking this forum only today. I was wondering if anyone could update me (or point to earlier discussion detailing) on what this settlement is about and should I be worried (I can change phones within the next 12 days if there is need to do so). I will really appreciate it. Thanks.

This suit will not apply to you and you have nothing to worry about. 😁

Basically the whole issue is VZW marketed this phone as having full bluetooth capabilities (OBEX/OPP) but in reality they crippled most bluetooth features so you would be forced to either buy their software or use Get It Now. Unless you need a phone with the OBEX/OPP bluetooth protocals, the v710 (besides the camera) is a decent phone.

☹️ I suppose they're not going to refund our "got you now" game downloads that won't work on any other phone...

😡 And the car speakerphone designed to fit the V710 isn't on the accessory list...

👿 And then there's the card I bought for it to use the phone as an MP3 player before I realized that you had to spend $30 on custom headphones and the phone doesn't play MP3's with the cover closed....

They should let us return the phones and all accessories and software and pay us a $500 credit for pain and suffering. (justified when people laugh at the loser phone on my belt clip).

Actually the phone does play mp3 with the cover closed. You have to hit "hide" then close the cover and it will continue to play. I dont know if they will refund your game fee's but I have exchanged broken phones before and gotten credits for ringtones. Good luck!

Actually, when I went to Verizon to have my phone replaced (various reason) and got a new v710, they told me to go ahead and redownload the applications I've already downloaded - then call their 800 number and ask for a credit for the new downloads. Since this phone is going to be replaced by the e815 due to legal reasons, I do not see why they wouldn't let you redownload and credit.

On a side note, if you have a USB datacable and bitpim just browse the phone's filesystem, find the BREW folder and copy your .mif files to your computer. Reload those onto the e815 and you sho...

Which one you talking about? If it's either of the two Bluetooth ones (the two available when the V710 was released) they were not designed FOR the V710. They were designed by Moto to be used for all their Bluetooth phones.
